Remove Glare guard USDM fog (alternate method)

i read the teg tip to remove the glare guard and i thought it was kind of unclear and . i examined the inside of the fog and found an alternative to getting it out. it take about 5 or so minutes.

Tools needed:
>>Philips Head Screwdriver
>>Flat Head Screwdriver
>>Wire Cutter (dikes)

Its a really easy process. Take off the 3 screws that hold the bulb mount in place and pull it out.

Looking inside you see that the guard is held in place by two brackets held in place by 2 screws that you can see from the front.

First take the flathead and bend the two flaps down on top of each other. That way you can get the wire cutters in there easier.

From there just grab the guard where it goes up at a 90 degree angle and squeeze as hard as you can and twist it back and forth until it breaks. Do this on both sides.

After it breaks off just get it out with your fingers.

Your going to be left with two tabs the screws are on with the guard. Use the flathead to bend the tabs back and turn them down on the screw so they’re all the way out of the way of the bulb.

Put it back together and your done. Enjoy your second set of headlights…

What ever mod is deleting all my complement and post, can you please stop? Or explain what i am doing wrong? Thanks.

Dm of mD

looks good. I gotta get some photo too

This is sorta wat it looked like before i remove the glare guards. I used a bright 200 lumen flashlight to shine in at it before removal. notice it looks different color to the oem bulbs
My yellow fogs are the yellow cups itself not yellow bulbs.

Here are the rest sorry not the best, but its something. Also notice the shape of the eye or dot in the fogs is probably from the shade of the bulbs etc?

i wonder if this would work on the one piece headlights???

The setup is indeed similar… but due to the design of the JDM housing, it would be a pain to get decent access to the glare guard.

thank you for the write up. love how much brighter my fogs are

asd

I really don’t understand why you would remove the glare guard. It would look ridiculous.

Someone post a pic without it and I’ll post with it, I want to see the difference.
