This Is Rice Now, Pink Tails Are Almost Extinct
:ban: :nobody: :stfu:
cause pink is gay. so stick with it if you like it.
ONly 3 times when Pink is OK on a car
-
- If you’re a hot girl, pink is oK
-
- If you have a STi (or WRX with upgraded STi parts), with stock “Cherry Blossom Red” aka Pink parts
-
- That one cool metallic shade of Pink, dark pink that you see on some JDM drift cars, with the bronze wheels and CF hoods, that’s OK if you’re a DORIFTU
just in case no one can get the castrol super clean any more u could also use simple green cleaner/degreaser with the hot water
http://consumer.simplegreen.com/cons_prod_pro.php
note i also used a little beach with hot water in the end to clean it up a little more
HMMM sedan tails are so purdeee!!!
how do u do it wit the 92 tegs coz they got the orange bit???
help plz
you cant. the orange is an actual plastic piece, whereas the 90-91 have it painted on. buy a 90-91 tail from the forum and superclean them.

hey - da91ls and others with trouble
I just did my 4 taillights yesterday.
Ok, this is a post for all the people who don’t like to search. I did my searching on this and pretty much read every post to make sure I did this right.
:blah:
Before I did this, I checked all the posts and read on improvments and all to make sure I was doing this right - so I thought I’d put together the updated version of this. Sorry for stealing everyone’s techniques and this thread. Just an attempt to make things easier for people. Maybe you can add on to this if you found a new technique.
Here’s a list of your needs:
- Castrol Super Clean - ofcourse...
- Gloves - this "Castrol superclean" crap is just like bleach.
- Paper towel - or something to "plug" the holes for the bulbs so you can shake the water and sollution inside the lights.
- Warm Tap Water!!!! This is the key. Someone had mentioned previously - something about the sollution not working with a mixture in high temp.
- Funnel - or something you can use "as a funnel". If you have a plastic water bottle lying around, you can cut and make a funnel. This'll avoid you from making a mess. This crap is like bleach so it's best you didn't get this all over the place.
That’s it!!! The problem with anything over boiling water - the sollution is ineffective. Reading from a previous member’s post - warm water works great. I hear of people leaving in the sollution for days and other members not being able to get the crap out.
It is true however that the hardest part to get is the lines at the corners, and personally, my hardest was the line inbetween the red and white… the bottom white line. I sorta gave it up and I’m going to just stick with it. I think that’s about it.
As for what ammount to put in? Well, you don’t really need alot. I decided to put the water in first. I’d say 1/2 and 1/2 or 40%water and 60%castrol should do more than enough. Just make sure when you wash it out - you get all the chemicals. Run water until you see most of the “bubbling” gone.
Drying will probably be a bitch. I’m currently drying my lights. We’ll see how that goes.
Just incase for those who are STILL naive about this, here’s the steps I took from after getting the lights out and taking harness off completely. With gloves on:
Here are the STEPS:
-
Pour water in. Just a bit so you can swiss it around enough so it covers the entire lens area.
-
Pour chemical in -
I STRONGLY recommend a funnel or something. Know what it’s like to pour in washer fluid without a funnel?? Same $hit… It’s better you have one
Enough so it’s not overflowing and that you can swish it around. -
Plug holes with paper towels. (This I didn’t do and I made quite a mess all over. Anything to stuff in the holes will do.
-
Shake and swish around. You’ll probably have to repeat this a few times. You should notice the color coming off. I probably shook mine for a good 5 mins - trying to get all areas possible.
-
Repeat until you’re satisfied. I had difficulties with the lowest line - closest to the red line and the corners. I didn’t care - I got as much as I could. I don’t think leaving in the crap really did much. The most effective procedure to increase performance of this crap is by shaking the crap.
-
Empty - I took a shower hose to thoroughly spray the crap out until it wasn’t foaming anymore.
Voila. Let them dry. I’m currently drying mine right now so the rest is up to you.
It’s probably best you get a spare set of lights or do this over the weekend. Regardless, these will take more than a day since you need to let them dry - unless you can take a blowdryer (not sure what effect this may have).
it can all be done in a couple hours, you can dry out the lights in the oven on the lowest setting 150F. Just set it to that put them in and like every 5 minutes or less whichever you prefer just look at them and when they are pretty close to dry and there is just some moisture on the plastic just put them on your car and the moisture will dry up the next day or two in the heat of the sun.
I couldnt find castrol or simple green at any of the local stores. all i could find was something called "mean green cleaner and degreaser. Will that work? its kinda pricey so I dont wanna waste money on it if it wont work.
I used purple power (degreaser) from advanced auto. my area didnt have castrol. still worked quick.
a quick way to dry them after shaking water out is had a fan blow on high on the holes. then turn in over in 30 minutes.
Im using the mean green now, Ive put about half the bottle in just one tail and its still not coming white, its a very faint pink in some spots and in others its still all pink. How much water and solvent do i put in per mix around? Cuz im not trying to waste all of it on one tail.
What I was doing was pour alittle solvent in, mix it around for like 30 seconds, put about a cup of hot water in, mix that around for about a min, and pour it out and repeat. Ive did this about 10 times on one tail and its not really working. any suggestions?
Ok, I figured since I only had half the bottle left (was a 32oz bottle) I would do the other one to make sure atleast I had 2 ugly half pink tails and not only one. Well It took about 3-4 cycles and its all white. So I used the remainder in the other tail and did the process I did on the other one and still nothing. The center lines are faint pink lines on the sides is still OE pink. WTF? I guess Imma go look for some more mean green and use it all on the one tail or go find castrol.Somewhere.
My lines didn’t exactly come out “pretty” either - like I see above.
Someone mentioned earlier - the lines may come out easier based on how much more sun they’ve been exposed to. In theory that is… I can’t prove that since I don’t know where my tails have been since this is 3rd hand.
I did 4 tails. 1 for practice, then I said FUKKIT, and did all 4. 1 came out almost perfect with 1 somewhat noticable red spot, and other two were more like 1/2 grey in bits and pieces.
I’m going to try bleach as some have suggested earlier, and i’m going to try this with boiling water. Temperature - just a bit warmer than the HOTTEST tap water.
I don’t know why that chemical didn’t work. I guess it’s too late, but try adding warmer water. Does this stuff bubble at all? Castrol did. When the liquid hit the lines, you can sort of notice the lines being washed away (slowly). Good luck.
In my opinion, I don’t see how this is rice… but whatever. I don’t care what you thinik, I like it !!!
