Any wal-mart/automotive parts store should have it. It is made by Castrol…
Any chance superclean will degrade the plastic? What’s in that stuff?
REd
I didn’t have a problem with my lights. I am however going to reseal the outer gap between the light and housing with some fresh clear silicone in case the super clean had any effect on the oem sealing crap.
Like I said, I mixed it with some hot water and swooshed it around in there, and repeated till the pink lines were white. Didn’t use the super clean in there by itself. But it still shouldn’t be a problem. After all, it does come in a plastic bottle.
AWESOME tip…I guess I will have to put my tailights back on so I can go get some superclean haha…it figures. I have them out ready to sand but I like the idea of this a LOT better.
This should be added to the teg tips
Haha damn man, that’s pretty neat, You are now a new legend Does the Castrol hurt the red in the lower portion at all?
Nope, didn’t discolor the lenses in any way. I am sure if you pour it in straight without water mixed, and leave it in there for a long time it might mess something up.
If you guys try this out, post up your thoughts afterwords.
Mine are almost done so I’ll pass on my experience…
Letting the lights soak with the superclean in them doesn’t work. The red around the curved part is VERY stubborn…I thought that if I let it soak for a while (overnight, even) it would eat away at the red, but no luck. They need constant agitation with the hottest water you can get out of your tap. Once the water cools down, pour it all out, start with some new superclean and again use the hottest water you’ve got.
As for the superclean itslef, go for the big bottle, not just the little spray bottle. I ALMOST had enough with the spray bottle, but not quite.
And now for two things I am wondering:
-
JDM1nt2B…did you also find the corners and that one spot on the flat the toughest to get white?

has anyone found a quick way to dry the lights after they’re done? I don’t really want to wait 3 days for them to airdry :hmm:
I have a spray bottle, and a gallon jug. I poured in a couple ounces, added about the same amount of hot water (so like a 1 to 1 ratio), or maybe just a little bit more hot water. then I shook the light to swoosh the liquids back/forth many times. Poured out and refilled. To get the pink off the corner of the light I just held the light up so the super clean gets down to the corner and shook the light around to the super clean works on those lines. As far as getting them dried faster, not sure. My car is in the body shop getting dents fixed, and repainted, so I had the time to waste to let them air dry. Maybe a blow dryer might work.
The light that i posed the pics of, well it took me about 5 minutes to remove the pink off of the lines. I don’t see why you have to let it sit overnight. Unless you guys have a diluted version of super clean up there in canada.
Must be nice! I’ve probably done 10-12 treatments on each of the lights so far, and there’s still red on there. The first little bit of red came off really easy, but the remaining stuff is taking forever. :worry:
The blow dryer works well to clean them out. Prop the lights up in a way that the nozzle of the hair dryer is pointed to one of the bulb sockets (preferably upside down so the water has a way to drain out). Change the input socket about every 20 mins or so.
BTW, on the new method. I did mine black over a year ago.
Thanks for the hair dryer tip. However, since the gf and I broke up I don’t have one around anymore
Tonight is my last kick at getting these tails white, otherwise I’m going to have to take them apart afterall I am hoping mine were just an isolated event caused by the temperature extremes here, or possibly from having condensation in them for such a prolonged period.
That is weird cause on passenger tail that i did came from my car (the driver side was broken when i got rear ended. the driver side one that I did came from a teg my friends parted out. And they both cleaned up in about the same time period.
awesome teg tip!!!
this stuff worked great I picked up a extra set of tails on ebay and went to town.It didn’t take long for the pink lines to turn white maybe a couple minutes tops.here’s a pic of the first one I did.I took the pic right after I did it so it wasn’t even dry yet…
This might be a dumb question but…
Where did you guys dispose of the wash? is it safe to flush or pour in a sewer? or is it something you should get rid of properply (like take it to an automotive shop to get rid of)?
04falcon,
nice pic.
right down the sink it went.
finished product
here’s a pic of the finished lights ready for install…no flash so you can see them as they really look…
