Removed power steering... problems?

I took out my power steering about three weeks ago (don’t ask why). I haven’t had any problems yet and the car runs fine without it, but I talked to someone today who warned me about something. The seals for the rack & pinion or something could go bad/sieze up. I called the dealer to see what they had to say and the tech there said that yes, the seals for the rack may go bad. Now I don’t know much about that aspect of my G2, so can someone explain this too me a little better. Even the RS came with power steering, so I can’t go buy the parts to convert my car to non-PS. So what should I look out for, what can I do if anything? Thanks in advance

as long as you keep the fluid in the rack it shouldn’t be a problem. One option is to swap to a manual steering rack. (see AMERIKAN’s post in the General Discussion board).

I’ve ran without fluid in my rack for almost 2 years now, no problems.
And I drive a LOT.

Cool, thanks Max, that’s the answer I was looking for.
