Removed Seats Pictures?

Hey, I’m thinking of taking out my leather rear seats because one of them has a huge gash in it. I’m thinking of covering the area with some sort of floor-like device (like a piece of wood etc), carpeting the whole area black, moving my subs and amp back near the drivers seats, and basically having an extended trunk(im an art student so i have massive supplies to haul around). Any input on the concept/practicality of this idea is appreciated. Mainly, as the title suggested, i’m looking for any detailed or at least clear pictures of a cars interior with the rear seats removed so I can get a gauge of whether or not this is a good idea. Thanks in advance.

Iv not done that but I did see a GEN2 done up like that. THe guy took out all the rear seat and installed a huge sound system. He coverd the rear seat area with fiberglass it looked hot. I no that it really does not answer you Q but Iv seen it done and its not to bad looking if you do it right.

As for moving the subs around, from a audio point of view, it’s better to have the subs further away from the driver seat so the waveform has enough room to build before it reaches the front seat, hence the reason for putting the sub as far back as possible. A couple ideas would be removing the spare and throwing 4 10" subs into the spare tire well. Then build a box for a set of either 4 or 6 6.5" components that levels off the back seat area, so the finished sub box and 6.5" speaker box create a level platform for throwing canvases, foam core etc. sheets into the back.

You could also use the area where the rear seat cushion goes for housing your amps and crossovers. All in all it could be a pretty awesome setup, not to mention the little bit of weight you’ll save from getting rid of the rear seat (probably outweighed by the extra weight of all those subs, speakers and amps ;)).

Look into getting some RAAMMAT60 (http://www.raamaudio.com/) to dampen the exposed body panels after you’ve started removing seats etc. It’s a bit cheaper and just as good as Dynamat.

He’s a turbo member and has a show car with the rear seats removed with a flat custom enclosure for his audio equipment. His is a show car, but its the same idea.
