Removing Lower Part of Airbox Help

Alright, here’s a stupid question, or as like to say, “there are no stupid questions, only stupid people who ask questions”.

Anyway, I’m fairly new to DAs. I used to be a DSMer. I have just recently bought a short ram intake, and have not removed the lower part of my airbox. I read the teg tips on removing it, and it says "Use your ratchet to remove the bolts from the bottom of the air box. Remove the bottom of the box. " I have unbolted it, but it doesn’t want to come out. Am I missing something here, or should I just be more forceful.

Thanks for the help.

:flame:

theres 2 in the lower box
and 1 outside of the box near the battery
then after that it should come out

I’ve got the 3 bolts out, still doesn’t want to. Should I just pull harder?

tire a rope to it and a tree, put in reverse and burn like hell!

Funny Chris

I just yanked on it, and it came out.

I guess you can try removing the resonator

to pull out the resinator you have to remove the front bumper. very easy
4 bolts behind the bumper turn signals
4 screws (2 in each wheel well)
and a bolt or 2 under the car

This may be different on a 91+, but on my 90, all I did was remove the pass. tire, and remove like 3 screws from the wheel well, and there it was. That took less time, I would imagine, than removing the bumper. (I have never removed the front bumper)

Most can change a tire, but many can’t remove the front bumper because of restrictions (apartment will not allow you to work on your car in the parking lot, stuff like that) or its just too cumbersome for one person to handle the bumper removal and installation.

Anyway, that was how I removed my resonator. HTH

Just out of curiosity, if I’ve got a short ram intake, not a CAI, do I really need to remove the resonator? Don’t know why I would.

You shouldn’t NEED to remove the resonator, though you will be carrying about 3lbs. of useless weight around in your fender.

Its not that hard to remove, like I was saying, if you can change a tire, you can remove the resonator, as its just like 3 more screws.

HTH

3 pounds?

Did your resonator have a family of rats living in it?

I managed to get mine off with the bumper and tire on, it involved a lot of cussing though… I wouldnt reccomend it…
