Removing Map Light Covers

The other day, while detailing my baby (Ever cleaned your ceiling? If you haven’t, you should. It’s disgusting.) and fixing up a batch of little annoyances in my teggy I decided to clean up my dome light cover.

I gave it a couple of rinses with isopropyl alcohol to dissolve all the nasty tarry yellow goo from previous smoking owners (myself included shame) and a good soak with bleach. It seems to have made a HUGE difference in the amount of light output (I strongly recommend trying it.)

So, I want to do the same to my map light covers. Problem is, I can’t seem to figure out how to get them out. I’ve tried prying from all 4 sides of the cover and no matter what I do the whole assembly (frame, covers and buttons) seems to want to come with them. -_-

Is there any particular trick to getting them out? I don’t want to wreck them =/

Too nice.

So the whole thing is clipped in? Tricky tricky.

Thank you very much  Gonna see what I can get tonight

Got it out… broke one clip in the process, but it still fits snugly.

Again, rubbed some isopropyl alcohol all over it to dissolve the thicker deposits, gave it a quick soak with bleach to clear it and rinsed it out with searing hot water. The entire unit looks brand new

thanks man:up: i have been goin crazy tryna replace my maplight bulbs. broke 2 black clips doe:argh::bang:
