Removing Rear Windshield Wiper

I’m trying to remove my rear windshield wiper so I can paint it. The diagram in my Helm’s manual shows a small nut cover at the base of the wiper arm, however, it doesn’t look anything like what’s on my car. It doesn’t look like I can pry it off, unlike what’s pictured in the manual.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? How do I pop this sucker off?

Thanks

Use a small regular screw driver to pry off ( use the screw driver on the bottom rear of the cover) the plastic cover at the base of the wiper the nut is under it! Lift the wiper so that it is off the glass and pointing up and wiggle it until it comes loose. It is very easy to do.

dont even trip dood… just grab that sucker and pull… it looks like something that doesnt come off but it does…

Damn, I tried prying the metal cover off using a screwdriver but all I managed to do was put some nice creases in it and the plastic cap beneath it.

To contrast my wiper from what the diagram shows, the base of my wiper arm has a cover which encases the entire base whereas in the illustration, the nut cover on the base is only a bit larger than the 12 mm nut it covers.

…Dammit and it’s one of those rare sunny days in Seattle! Any further suggestions?

Yea, while your at it, cover that sucker up with a cap (where do you get them anyways). I think tegs look better without one. Do you use it? I know i dont but you may need it in Seattle.

i seem remember that you could use that cap from a 92-95 honda civic… since the dx/cx/vx didnt come with rear wipers they had a cap cover thing… i’ve seen some members with it… i forget if it was a teg tip or not… but if its not it should…

rear wiper has been a life saver up here in good ol’ canada. gotta love it.

As stated in my original post, I’m trying to remove the wiper arm so I can paint it. Hence, I think it’s safe to say that I plan to put it back on for the purpose of using it.

Back to the lecture at hand…how do I successfully pry the metal cap off of the base to get to the nut? Again, the Helms diagram isn’t helpful at all since the illustration doesn’t match what I have.
