Removing windshield washer reservior- looking for tips/how-to

only removing it to clean all the hoses and possibly replace the pump if i cant get that cleaned out.

from sitting before i bought it the reservoir got filled with gunk/mold etc and it clogged everything up.
since i plan on moving north, it might be a good idea to get it working again.
the pump RUNS but is clogged.

not seeing any teg tips or anything on how to remove it or even service it.

engine bay is stock, everything that was in there is still in there so there is lots of stuff in the way it looks like.

I don’t want to make assumptions here but im guessing the fender liner or bumper needs to come off so i can drop the res out the bottom.

just want to make sure I get any tips & tricks before i do that since my driver side fender is messed up and it’s not something i want to risk messing up worse just to make my sprayers work.

Easy.

Jack up the driver side… Remove the wheel. Remove the plastic clips holding the fender liner. I think there are 3 bolts holding the reservoir in place… Voila!

As far as cleaning the actual pump out, I have no idea on that one… havent ever done that before.

I’ve had mine out–many years ago when I pieced the front of the car together after an accident. I would suggest cleaning out the plastic reservoir with a water/bleach solution. There are two pumps attached to the reservoir. One pumps fluid to the front windshield squirters, the other pumps fluid to the rear window squirter. Try cleaning the pumps with water/bleach solution and then blowing compressed air through them. Cleaning out any junk in the hoses may be difficult. I would say forget making the rear squirter work if it’s inoperable. Concentrate on the front ones. If the hoses are hoplessly clogged, you may have to replace them. If the hoses aren’t available from the dealer any more, perhaps suitable sized aquarium tubing could be used.

very nice.

so it is pretty much like doing the resonator/airbox on the passenger side then.

bummer though, my driver side fender is cracked under the DOHC molding and if im not careful when im removing the liner I might screw up how the fender lines up with the door again and wreck it worse. heh.

i want to replace both fenders and the hood with CF at some point just because i wont have to paint it… but thats something i cannot afford to do at the moment.

thank you.

both pumps work, but the rear is clogged somewhere, maybe in the pump maybe in the line.
i know i get SOME water out of the rear nozzle but its just a drip.

one thing i learned while cleaning the hoses under the hood is that a soak in warm bleach water does wonders… and if needed, there are tiny bottle type brushes that could be pulled through the lines if you have a long & thin enough wire to push through first, so you can pull the brush through.

probably way easier to just replace the hose though

all done.

wow, im drenched. it was like 100 degrees out and high humidity.
sunny florida!

i need some new clips for the fender liner but i need to get some for the right side too once i get the fender liner from another g2ic guy.

all the front sprayers are working, had to replace a couple of the lines but i had some clear tube laying around from a chemistry thing i was working on last year. a little thicker, but it will work.

the back sprayer is getting water but the nozzle is clogged.
but i would bet that disconnecting the hose from the pump, and taking a shop vac to that end or sticking a compressor in the other end… it should clean it out pretty quick.

no worries though, just wanted the front ones to work.
