Replaced supposed squealing distributor w/ a new one, still squealing *HELP*

I posted up in a old thread before i swapped out to a new distributor w/ no help, it’s almost no use to post up in a old thread nowadays, anyway though.

I replaced my distributor back in Nov 2011 when my car basically shut off while driving. I heard the squealing before, didnt know what it was, and it finally made itself manifest. Well the squeal came back in the last couple of months and i knew, so i thought, that it was the distributor again. So before it failed on me again while driving i figured i’d swap it out before i get stranded. Well, initially, i pulled the cap, didnt see any red dust showing that the bearing in the was failing…i remember reading somewhere else before that even if it’s not showing red dust now, it’s still the distributor. So i went ahead and replaced it.

Put everything back together, started the car, sounded quiet for once. so i shut it off and cleaned up the house. Well i went out later to wash the DB, and i hear it squealing again…So is there another symptom of the squealing, or is it just another bad distributor? It’s been replaced, both times, since the OEM one that crapped out, with one from Advance Auto Parts, Cardone manufacturer.

Assistance is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have your splash guards in could be because moisture is gettin in there because thee cap oring is bad. Or that oring on the back of the §§§§§ to seal the cam went bad and oil got it.

splash guards?

its probably something else. sure its not a belt? if you think it might be, try removing one accesory belt at a time. see if the noise ceases

naw the noise is still on the passenger side of the engine :frowning:

Does the noise get louder when you rev the engine. If you have a manual transmission does the noise go away when you push the clutch?

i know that transmission sound right now that i have is the transmission itself…it’s 2 separate sounds…the transmission sounds goes away when i engage the clutch and put the car in gear

the sounds as far as i know is related to the distributor does accelerate/get faster/kinda louder when i rev the engine

Try using a long object like a 12" screw driver to listen to it. You may be able to pin point the location further.
