replacing carpet

when its time for me to replace the carpet in my car would it be a good idea to take some cleaner and water and scrub the bare floor of the car and letting it sun dry before putting the new carpet in?

and the process of replacing the carpet seems easy enough but is the overall process as easy as it seems?

pretty straight forward. there’s an L bracket under the console that needs to be removed in order to slip the carpet past.
and yeah, i’d go to town with the vacuum and some spray cleaner. just wipe it all up with an old towel. no point letting it bake in the sun

careful with the sill plates and the little washer things that hold the door sills to the carpet. You’ll LOVE having new carpet.

You’re telling me! Pretty much all the clips broke on both of mine :expressionless:

run no carpet thats what i did… my old carpet had a nasty smell even with carpet cleaning and all that… now my car looks auto x-ish…

you mean noisy and uncomfortable?

HAHA that’s exactly what I thought in my head as I read that post!

Installing a carpet will make you feel like you have a luxury car.

Carpet replacements are based off molds of a real floor plan. Stuff like this is called a “pattern part” and usually needs some tweaking to make it perfect. Bumpers and fenders are a pain to get strait but carpets are easier. Use a heat gun on the backside of the carpet around where the carpet isn’t flat in places (creases) like the center hump and beside the door sills. Put it in heated up and let it cool in place after smoothing it out. You will get a much better fit overall this way. Be careful not to burn it, a hairdryer can work in a pinch. Good Luck!
