Replacing Motor Mounts?

How hard is it to replace motor mounts with basic hand tools and a jack.
I’ve got some filled mounts here that I want to put in.

bump because i wanna know too!

It’s not that bad. Get a service manual it’ll show you how. To remove the pass side one, one of the bolts threads from underneath, the nut on the top of that one is welded to the mount base. Just keep that in mind before you try to he-man that one. IIRC it’s the rear outside one.

Where is it in the factory service manual? I was looking at it this morning and couldn’t find it.

which manual are you using? Here’s the section you are looking for. It has the mounts in an exploded view so you can see how they come apart.

A helms manual from the local autozone will do. Did mine in a parking lot as well with just a jack and a whole lot of straining. Took about 6 hours. Mainly lining things up correctly so that the bolts go straight through.

Helms can blow me.

This is the factory Acura service manual.

Found it but it says to use an engine hoist. I will look at my helms in a minute or two.

Helms is the factory service manual. Haynes is the crap one.

You do not need a hoist. a jack under hte oil pan and patience will suffice.

Sorry, had them mixed up.
Is this possible with air tools?

Ha I actually meant Chiltons. Somehow I thought I owned the Haynes manual. I think it’s pretty decent.

have a haynes and not all that impressed. looked for helms but couldnt find one

Breed19’s six hours pretty much is within ballpark of the length of time it took to install inserts in the side and rear mounts of my GSR. The side (and front, I think) ones were a piece of cake - it’s the rear one that’s a PITA.

Be sure to have a long list of people you’d like to curse at before you start work on the rear mount.

there’s a trick to that. get a 1/2" drive swivel socket and adapter, attach it to a LONG breaker bar or a handle on a ratchet and it’ll make it a LOT easier.

No need to fill that one though. Fill the front and two sides and you’ll be good.

Really cause the rear one is the only one I don’t have yet and I know it’s a bitch to get out.
Maybe I’ll finish filling the others and put them in.

yeah it’s really not necessary, i mean you can if you want but hte front and sides would be fine imho.

just let them dry for more than 24 hours so tehy cure properly.

Awesome, thanks man.
I’ll give it a try and see how I like it.

You’ll be fine with hand tools. I did my B20 swap with just hand tools, so changing some mounts should be pretty cake, just a little time consuming . Be prepared for that bolt on that rear mount though, that sucker is looong, haha

I’m gonna do my mounts in the next few weeks.
So I place a jack with a bit of wood on it and jack from my oil pan correct? How far should I jack up the motor?
I’m assuming I should do one mount at a time. Going to leave the rear for now though.

Just gimme any tips.
