replacing Pwr steering belt is easy

all you got to do is loosen (not very much) the two bolts on the side of the power steering pump. there are 12mm. then loosen the adjusting bolt on top, its a 10mm. slide the pump down till the belt can come off. take old belt off, install new. tighted the adjuster bolt so it pulls on the belt. tighten 12mm bolts. there should be a little play in the belt, not too much, but some.

Dynaflex belt by Dayco for our tegs (atleast 90 ls) part number is
15355
i picked it up for 6.00

How long did it take you to do that? Approximately?

On mine you have to jam the belt past the crankshaft pulley when taking it off or putting it on. That part’s a pain…

Tom

since i knew what bolts to loosen, it took me about 5-10 min. the HARDEST part is getting the lower 12mm bolt loose, easiest thing is a breaker bar so u can angle the handle out, and make small little turns. thats not very hard, just takes time. 2 12mm loose just enough to make the pump slide up and down in the slots, then loosen the top 10mm bolt to move the pump down. then remove, and install new belt. move the pump up (which puts tension on the belt) by tighting the 10mm bolt. then tighten the 12mm side ones. test for tension. if needed, loosen 12’s, and move the pump up or down (adding or releaving tension) until its right.i have it where u can press down in the middle of the belt and there is about 1/2" push.

i was wondering if you revomal the belt would you gain a lot of power? is it the same thing as taking out the whole power steering unit? and if i do your way of removel of the belt i can always put it back one correct?
