digitalhorizon- do you know who actually makes the fenders? ill take every bit of weight savings i can get. hell i have cf everything but fenders. i love the way it looks, and its functional. too bad my car is white… if it were black then it would be an instant purchase.
10% of nothing is nothing Do the JDM bumpers if you haven’t already front and back, JDM headlights as well, lexan rear glass, lightweight wheels which should be near the top of your list as it’s a rotational mass etc. If you have sunroof, get the CF cap, lightweight bucket seats, gut interior. lightweight racing battery, get rid of all un necessary components like the OE battery tray/brace, cruise, ABS, AC, misc brackets and bolts. aluminum race half rad. What is your current dry weight right now without driver?
^^ditto on what Tchleung said, there is absolutly no point in buying the CF fenders except for show. stock fenders dont weigh anything to begin with. i had a pair of fiberglass fenders for a civic hatch i aquired a while back and they were no different in weight then my extra pair of stock DA fenders i have in my garage.
heck if you are into wasting all that money on carbon parts to make your car lighter why dont you just spend the money on a car that is actually pretty fast to begin with that way you can keep all the interior and the luxury’s of the car while still being fast?
Hey I like your style… I got an E36 as my cruiser. My DA is more or less a race car these days so. I know whats’ worth it and what’s not worth it for weight reduction.
lol, yeah i had one of my white tegs completely gutted for a while. man when i put all the interior back in it was a night and day difference for sound and whatnot and a gutted car gets freakin cold in the winter.
Once again, even a few ounces is something worth looking into in our case. Note that neither my car nor Patrick’s has carbon fenders. But, we do sit and figure out how to save weight in terms of ounces at times, so even if its just a slight advantage, its still an advantage. I’ll take even a half a pound per side all else equal.
2189 lbs… we’re doing something right.
What model is your car?
I have a 93 GS, Patrick has a 91 RS.
Well you have at least 200 lbs to go in your development!
We can’t all be as cool as you Mr. Coolest Guy Ever.
Car is retired for now. We realized no matter what we did, that one guy on the internet would always be better, so we gave up and Patrick left the continent.
So what is keeping your mouth full since his nut sack is not around anymore? Did he take his car with him?
I’ve managed with just masturbation.
Why don’t you move the fuck on already? Your ego doesn’t impress me any more than mine impresses you. If you don’t like that I’ve done what I can to get off my ass and work on something I believe in then you can go fuck yourself, because you and your little parking lot conekiller would be a lot more impressive if your autofellating ass wasn’t the one driving it.
The car is in my Dad’s garage. I have it. Gotta have something to suck on until he comes back, ya know?
lmao… you just described my car to a t. every single item. thats why id be finishing with cf fenders as the last thing i got… thats also good advice to get everything else first.i dont really think id be saving any weight, just that it is a true statement that they are lighter, and therefore they arent worse. id suspect most people havent already gone to the extent to reduce the weight as much as i have, but ive done every single thing ive come across or thought of except drill holes in the front frame to lighten the car.
i guess they would be just for show as da9tegra put it, but i would not be wasting my money in any way whatsoever so long as i wanted them. the car will be worth building to me when i can look at it and say, “its complete, there isnt anything else i could do to it, now lets go have fun with it.” imho you have to have a built honda to really be having fun with one. stock just never did it for me. its not like an 03-04 cobra where you buy it and do a few mods and it actually be enough. hell i bought every other part in existance for my g2 and ive still got money to eat. the integra is my racecar, rarely driven on the street, so i dont worry about losing function of the interior as an insulator in the winter. as for having a car that was fast enough initially to keep the interior and accessories… i like my g2 and thats why i built it. i have two mustangs, 90 and 98… the 98 cobra is currently in the shop receiving a built cobra motor and custom 250hp direct port nitrous kit, a built t56, accel dfi 7.0+tuning. that car will go 9s on race gas and mid 10s pump. i am currently assembling parts to twin turbo the built 5.0 i just got. so i guess you guys both had pretty good advice because ive already taken it long ago… and i thought i know what i was doin even though i had three projects goin…
