Resseting ECU and reset adv. timing?

I recently adv my timing to 18. if i rest my ecu, does it reset my avanced timing or no?

No it won’t. The timing is mechanicaly set by the position of the distributor.

When you set the timing, did you shortened the two contacts in the connector under the front kick panel on the passenger side?

When I did mine–I shortened the contacts with the paper clip, but I did not notice any differece in the rpms or anything else, so I wonder what is the purpose of shortening contacts on that connector?

Anybody?

yep I used a metal clip. it is used as a bypass thing cause if you don’t do that, the ECU compensates whatevr you advance by retarding it that much

Thanks. It makes sense. I guess after the setting the timing, one should recet ecu, so the changes take the effect, I guess.
