Reunited: Engine swap done and it's out for a photoshoot!

If some of you recall, i was building and swaping in a b20vtec into my DA. I ran into sooooooo many problems… mainly because this was my first build/swap, but it’s all done now and she’s running like a champ!

2000kms and no catastrophic failure! WOoohooO!!

On with the pics:

I’ve got more photos i’ll add in later… it’s taking me a while to edit! Enjoi!

Your tegs looks good. Love the color

I, for one, love it. That color makes the body look very clean… and the CF hood adds a nice contrast, and also ties in with the wheels.

Good work man! Any plans for some dyno time? Link to your build thread/engine specs?

Again, it looks awesome bro.

great looking car man. keep it up. in my opinion all da’s need a VTEC platform just adds to their prestige considering the DA is the first chassis to feature VTEC for mass consumers.

lemme see the money shot?? specs?

keep up good work gotta love dat color:up:

one question though.

did you have to cut your front crossmember to clear swap and header???

mine was cut unfortunately and i am now looking for the placeracing front crossmember.
DA is the first chassis to feature VTEC for mass consumers.
No the CRX is.

maybe in japan but no in america the DA was the first VTEC platform featuring the B17A1

now that i thought about it if were talking about very first car with vtec. its not the CRX or DA. its the NSX C30A right??

DA and the CRX were the first Honda’s to receive VTEC. U.S got it’s first taste of VTEC in 1991 with the NSX.

This may be being entirely too techical, but there wasn’t a DA in America that got Vtec from the factory seeing as the 92-93 GSR is a DB2 chassis code…

looks good! Thought we were supposed to do a photoshoot together? :P:sipread::burnout:

Looks great. I’m always a fan of “slammed” status cars, but that’s just me. So my opinion is, lower it more and it would look better (to me, anyway.) But, since you’re not out to please anyone but yourself, which of course, is the only way to go, I think the car looks awesome. I think some side-markers would really set it off. Ever considered them?

The hood looks pretty nice, too. My CF hood was faded horribly, so I re-did it a while back. Then, when I took it out of storage to start my rebuild, I noticed some nasty cracks in the hood, so I gave up on it and color matched it to the car. lol.

Again, car looks sexy. But who gives a fuck? I want to see the motor :giggle: B20VTEC FTW!!!

Hey guys, thanks for the love! I’ve put a lot of hard work into this car!

Turtle: I’m using a ETD racing cross member to clear the header… my advice: get one. Header swaps have never been easier, the car feels way more solid on launching and the upgraded front engine mount is great. $400 well spent IMO. I had an AN-R race header before, but it cracked. I had to cut the stock cross member to fit that thing. Installation and removal was a pain in the ass because i had to take the cross member off every time.

unified: dyno time? I guess it’ll have to be done some time in the future. My goal right now is a good street tune before i get it on the dyno. It’s running really well right now, but it’s still a bit rich after vtec. I think i can lean it out more and make more power up top.

Chris: Don’t worry, we’ve got plenty of time for photoshoots!

Blu: I wish i could slam it dude, but look at the first photo. My header is practically dragging on the ground. It hangs so damn low! Also, the traction bar hangs lower than stock so it scrapes when i go down steep hills. I think it’s a functional height right now. It still looks good and i can still make it up my drive way (it’s really steep). Too bad about your hood… i hope mine doesn’t crack!

here’s some more pictures from the same day

Very nice!! good job  I was going to do the vtec head on the b20 but ended up doing it. Bet you’re loving it. How is it treating you?

After removing two times and installing it 3 times, it’s treating me great! The engine runs really well and it pulls nice and hard! Just wish i had a bit more compression, but that’ll be for build number two

your pictures are way too saturated, i feel like im looking at your car while coming up on LSD…

other than that, the car is great.

Really? I barely even touched the saturation when editing. Are you using a calibrated monitor?
