Review: Advanced Wheel Repair

As most of you know, I have a set of 15X7 Volk ce28n’s in a pretty rare Winning Gold color. On Oct. 16, 2003, I rolled my GSR into a ditch, damaging my rims in the process, as seen here:

Now over a year later, I still didnt know what I was going to do with them…until now.

After my friend Duy (Archon) had his rims fixed by AWR, I was very impressed with their work, but I was still skeptical, since every other wheel shop I have heard of, have damaged wheels while in the process of repairing them. These Volks are very hard to replace when you are looking for just one rim. Most of the time you have to wait 3 months to get a shipment from Japan (so Im told from a friend who works at a shop). I decided to take my chances and take the rims down to AWR. When I got there, I spoke with Marco, and told him what I wanted to do. I wanted him to fix the 9 inch bend, and very badly curbed lip on the worst rim, then hand polish the rest of the rim’s lips. I figured since only one rim was bent, and curbed very badly, that if he could fix this, then the others would be easy since they are only moderate to lightly curbed. Well, I was wrong. Upon immediate inspection, 3 rims were bent pretty good, and the worst rim had to have the lip totally reworked. Very confident, Marco looked at the worst rim, and said he would do it for $180. In my mind I didnt want to spend $180 per rim to fix them, then he said, $30 for the 3 decent rims, and $90 for the worst, which in my mind, I thought is a great deal. I agreed, and was told that the work would be completed in 3 days max!

I stopped by the shop on Friday of that week. He pulled my rims out, and I was in shock. They were absolutely perfect. I couldnt believe it. I paid him the $180, shook his hand, and assured him that my friends would know who did this awesome job on my rims.

Here is what they look like now:

These pictures cant even do his work justice. You have to see them in person. Many at the recent SoCal meet saw them first hand, and were amazed. I highly recommend this company for any wheel repairs. Here is his address:

I’m the one who recommended that Vernon go to AWR after seeing their work on my brother’s wheels. I managed to hit a rock on a recent run which ripped though a tire and took a chunk out of my Volk SE37K. The wheel was repaired and the lip polished for $80.

I had another wheel which had a huge dent and very bad curbing redone for $100. The charges are different depending on the size of the wheel and damage.
