Is there a more detailed tip of the fog light rewire. cause im a little confused. So what does it mean by splice the red/yellow wire to the black/yellow wire. Does it mean that i cut the black/yellow wire 2 inches away for the defogger switch too?
Those little clips never give me a good connection I just took a sharp knife and cut the wire insulation then twisted the fog wire around it and wrapped some tape around to hold it all in works fine
So that means i cut the black/yellow wire too and just solder the red/yellow and black/yellow wire together? And just electric tape the 2 wires hanging?
I think that is what that thread is, you don’t use the defrost at all. just the foglight button.
click on the link below, same as the one above, this looks hella easy, all you gotta do is cut that red/yellow wire, than attached the new wire to it. the wire that has the gauge on there.
yup do it that way. and make sure you tuck that wire up real nice, my boot snagged on it and ripped the wire out and i blew a few fuses, had to rewire the thing again. its tucked and zip tied under the dash now.
No but theres a pic by pic one right in the link!!!
Look man, just take some wire strippers (or a utility knife) and strip 1/4 inch of the wire coating from the red/yellow wire on the back of the switch (dont cut the wire in half, just strip the coating off of it so that the copper wire inside is exposed) and do the same from the end of the wire you are using to bring the power from the fusebox. Wrap the exposed end of the new power wire around the stripped red/yellow wire you just made, and twist it on there TIGHT like when you close a twist tie. Then use some electrical tape to make sure its all sealed up…Wrap the tape around there a few times and squeeze it tight.
Then just run the new power lead to the space they show in the fuse box, (in the picture) crimp on a 16 gauge spade connector (google ‘16 gauge spade connector’ in google images if you dont know what this is, they are available anywhere you can buy anything electrical) and add in-line fuse holder and fuse and voila! you have your working fogs.
If you can’t do this with the tutorial provided maybe you should get someone to help you before messing with your cars electrical system. We all have to start somewhere but you at least have to know a few terms before you start cutting things up.
