rewiring fogs please simplify

ok so i need a little clarification on how to do this so i dont screw up http://g2ic.com/tegtips/lighting/1.html

how do i splice and can some one just better explain this i really dont want to mess it up, thank u so much

Start by not using the teg tip to rewire the fog lights, instead use one of the free pins on the under dash fuse box.

Start by removing the fog light switch so you can access the wires on the plug, cut the red/yellow lead, [about 1" from the switch] attach a lead long enough to reach the under dash fuse box to the switch side of the cut red/yellow lead, cap off the dash harness side of cut red/yellow lead.

Install an in-line fuse on the extension lead, [close to the fuse box, and no more then 5A] then plug the lead into one of the free pins, there is a 12V+ constant, [hot at all times] 2nd ign., [hot in run] and a park light free pin, [hot when park/head lights are on] I would suggest the 2nd ign. free pin. 94

what fcm speaks is the truth.

though it might sound more “complicated” using his method, its actually easier and more reliable. works much better than the traditional “cut and splice” method in the TEG TIPS section.

we should start a motion to get the “Teg Tips” fog-light rewiring “trick” updated to the more efficient method.

we just need to do a proper write up with pics, and it can be done easily. too bad i’ve already done mine, and i’m too lazy to go pulling the switches out etc. to take pics of the respective wires i cut etc.

i have a friend who wants me to do this on his car, maybe when i do, i’ll take pics etc. and do a proper “write-up” on it.

okay so how do i pull the switch out without braking it, because i tried, and im a pussie haha i dont want to break it off, because it had resistance

Remove the cluster bezel, there are 7 screws, [if I remember] 2 at the top above cluster, 2 below to the left and right of steering column, 2 under the A/C and blower switch trim cover, [remove knobs and “pop” trim cover off] and one screw on the right end of bezel.:sipread:94

thank you for your help man i appreciate it

Could you tell me exactly where the 2nd ign pin is?! thank you

Mike

i feel like the teg tip is easy it took me about 5 mins to do mine

[QUOTE=Shagy;2142848]i feel like the teg tip is easy it took me about 5 mins to do mine[/QUOTE] If you never use the fog lights and the rear window defog at the same time it is not a problem, [even if you do it’s not, really, draw is no more the 250mA] but you should never add a load to an existing one, especially when Honda went through the trouble of supplying you with “free pins” just so you could add circuits, [change circuits in this case].

It’s even quicker then using the rear window defog as you don’t have to do anything with that switch, [strip insulation, solder, wrap in electrical tape.94

sorry for bringing an old thread back from the dead but i just used FCMs method and it couldnt have been any more simple!! just cut, solder, and heatshrink. im very happy i found this thread

I’m not too good with multimeters, so would anyone happen to have a picture, or an ‘easy-to-understand’ written directions on which pin is the 2nd ignition pin? And won’t I need a pin to crimp into the new power wire, to stick into the slot?

If this were to be in the Teg-Tips section as the new replacement, it needs pictures imho.

Bump…Update Teg Tips!!!

Tagged for info.
I’ve got to do this.
