i wanna see pics of someone else that has taken the firewall out to see it there is easy way … i have a lot fo spots wheels drilled out soo im just trying o find some pics
its really hard cause everyone converts egs or eks
there isnt any certain way sept to drill out the spot welds, and try not to Bend or Damage the mounting points for the new Firewall it should be a easy go project good luck
yea i know … i have most of the spot welds drill i just wanted to se how other ppl did it
the only RHD DAs ive ever seen in the US where imported through canada.
Look up member tegboi.
He did a RHD conversion and can give you some help. I believe he even did a thread write up about it.
he’s drilling out all the spot welds & welding in an oem RHD firewall. (i believe that’s what i got out of this…)
it’s pretty straight forward if you’re this far.
weld bars at points of chassis/doors/corners of firewall to hold the structure together, remove windshield, remove firewall.
insert new firewall, weld, reassemble.
i did the cheating way
but also, you do understand that by removing your oem firewall, welding in a new RHD firewall, with the vin number being on that piece of identifying chassis part, you’re technically “destroying” the vehicle. right? in auto body repair/insurance, in the case of an accident, if any damage is done to where that panel needs to be replaced, insurance pays the customer out for a total loss car & non-salvagable title.

the top portion of the firewall is actually not part of the firewall itself, if you look at the part above the ridge (the part that has the VIN on it) youll see that there are symmetrical bolt threads on either side to be used when you have your windshield wipers switched around. im sure it was a cost thing, as you can actually remove the lower half of the firewall without removing the portion where the wiper motor mounts, also where the VIN plate is (its also where the windsheild is glued in, so you wouldnt have to remove that either, in theory)
i just went out and looked at my car and it does seem possible to leave that part along the top for structural support while swapping.
