this guy is selling a rhd front clip for 600. isit worth it and what kinda job is it going to be getting that thing in my car? will it all just bolt up or is there heavy fabrication that has to be done? any advise would be great thanks!!!
i would take useful parts from it like the fenders, hood, complete front bumper assembly, the motor, trans, useful other stuff, and use what i can. sell what u don’t want or need. u’d need to be a decent welder (if u wanted to cut out the firewall on urs and the clip and then weld it in place. but even then there is a lot more that is required for this.
dont’ bother trying to do a conversion unless its strictly a show car, or a track car. cuz that would be extremely awkward and UNCOOL to roll up to a mcdonald’s drive and try reaching over to pay and get ur food while ur on the right hand side.
and for $600??? that guy must of stole that thing, or something is up with it, cuz parts alone for the above listed is above $600, unless it doesn’t have a motor n trans.
ha ill back up thru the drive thru haha i think it would be the sheit. it doesnt come with the motor just all the stuff to do the conversion. but i still wanna swap it out. could i just cut the holes i need in the fire wall or do i have to swap the whole thing out.
after hearing what u’re planning… i’m gonna be as polite as i can be and try not to offend u. but u need to search. i hope u have another form of transportation cuz you’re going to need it. to have a rhd would be cool, but i highly doubt u know what u’re doing. u’ll need some $ or some pretty good skills like welding n cutting. lots of stuff have to be switched over, brake booster, master cylinder, dash, steering components, ignition stuff, fuse panel, dash harness… :blah:
there is way too much more there than u can prolly handle. and to ask a question of whether u can just cut out the holes? you’re wasting ur time. if u have the money to waste then go ahead, but don’t waste ur time, cuz u’re gonna ruin a da, and i personally don’t know the condition of ur da… but if its a POS, its gonna be an even bigger POS. some members here have some nice rhd da’s… like tegboi i believe. but maybe u should search and if u can try communicating with the other members that have gone thru all this. $600 for a da6 front clip without a motor n trans. its a deal if u knew how to use the most of the clip.
all up to u… $0.02
lol my friend just goes in regular and makes them reach out lol!!!
if i was the person at the drive thru… and saw that car come in again, and had to reach out to the customer… i’d spit in their food the next time i saw them roll up. or to be on the “nice side” i’d just say sorry i can’t reach that far.
[QUOTE=TegFan;1975052]or just carry one of those ez reachers.

LMAO! u got an answer for everything. that is a pretty clever idea. maybe we ALL should go rhd.
ok well i swindled the guy and hes sellin it to me for 300 if i do buy it but idk know you got me pretty discouraged about the whole thing.
cuz its not really all that great. in japan some wanna do the LHD conversion… and some want usdm headlights, etc. just cuz its jdm doesnt always mean its cool. most of it is more practical, like the one piece headlights, but some of it isn’t. the 90-91 jdm front bumper supports for instance… great if you’re looking for weight reduction to help u out on the track… but they’re weaker and u have a higher possibility of damaging the front end in an accident, even in a fender bender, especially for us DD tegs.
also i dunno if u’ve driven a rhd car before… at first its a bit awkward, i personally kept veering off to the left side of my lanes, and would run over those bumpy things. its hard to adjust cuz we’re use to being positioned in a certain part of the lane while driving. rhd has its advantages, like the tunnel not being close to the accelerator making heel-toe driving a bit easier, but that can be fixed with different pedals. just my $0.02
oh and by the way… if its complete… and if he will sell it to u for ONLY $300, then that is a very very good deal. 1 pcs + jdm fender + jdm front bumper and supports amounts to more than $300 if u sold all that piece by piece. the firewall including stuff lines and :blah: could sell for some $$$ too.
i am personally finishing this swap, as we speak. it is not rocket science, but WILL take a long time. as squeezthis stated, there is a TON of little stuff that you need to switch over/change…this swap is not for the weak. LOL
i have personally switched over every inch of wiring from my other teg, to the new shell. parts i never even knew existed on our cars, i now have a thourough relationship with.
getting all the parts for 300, is a very good deal, but dont start this whole thing unless you’re ready for some down-time, and a lot of learning. good luck!
right now. good luck with ur conversion. post up some pics after ur done
