hey guys, so for a while now I have noticed that upon starting from a stop, coming to a stop while braking, and turning a slow speeds there is a clunk coming from my front end. After acknowledging the noise I decided to replaced my sway bar end links but the noise is still existent. When I had the wheels off I decided to go over a few of the surrounding bolts thinking that something may be loose. When I put some force into tightening the lower ball joint I was able to recreate the clunking noise, which makes me believe it may be that. I purchased the lower ball joint and am waiting for some free time to install it.
In the mean time I am curious if anyone has has a similar issue and if you may have any idea as to what it may be. Thanks.
i have that noise i believe you are talking about…my ball joints have been toast for a long time, i think slamming my car and riding around the block finally killed mine. so i hear mine when i hit a bump of any sort…it sounds like a metal on metal noise
I had a similar “clunk” resolved with new ball joints. i’ve also got a noisy bushing in the same area - more of a “squeek” or “groan” - related to an old bushing. i just hit it once in a whole with a foam lubricate to keep it quiet until I have the money for a complete swap to new rubber all around.
Thanks for all the responses guys, it does sound like a metal on metal clunk. The part should be in today so whenever I get some free time I’ll put it in and hopefully that’ll take care of it. I will keep you guys updated!
