I’m planning on putting a roll cage in my DA. Any suggestions on what brand, style or numbers of points I should consider?
What is your reason for wanting the cage? Does you car go faster than 10.99 sec in the 1/4 mile? Is it going to be strictly a track car? If you answered no to either question then you have absolutely no need for a roll cage. They are actually worse for you in an accident on the street due to you not wearing a helmet contently. you get hit or hit someone and your head bounces off one of the bars your going to have a fractured skull. so think about this for a min. Do you want to survive an accident in your car?
Roll cages are typically used for track use. The best way to determine the best roll cage for you is find the series you plan to race in and what their cage requirements are. Then, find a local shop that is certified and has welded many series-specific cages and has good work to their name.
Beware of ‘monkey bar’ cage builders. They build the cage with unnecessary supports, which are typically viewable through the windows for show-off purposes. Also, just because the local welder says he can weld a cage, doesn’t mean the cage will pass safety/tech inspections. GO WITH A REPUTABLE SHOP.
This cage will save your life in a crash! Do not cheap out. A good cage costs a lot of money!
As mentioned earlier, you run the risk of hitting your head on the cage if you drive on the street. If you’re looking for something for the street/track, I would recommend a bolt-in Autopower rollbar.
X2 on the autopower bolt in roll cage. I plan on keeping the front area where the drive and passenger sits normal so when I have a girl in my car it still has creature comforts, and gutting everything from the B pillar back. Getting the autopower half cage with the removeable bar for harnesses. Send it off to get powder coated and bolt it in at the shop on base. Dont have to worry about bashing my head on anything and still have the safety of the harnesses and roll over protection.
