roll up window to power window

hi guys i looked and looked but couldnt find any thing on swaping my 93 rs doors (rollup) to power doors. i had a couple questions. do any DA coupe doors fit . and since the doors are power windows can i do the power locks. also i have an alarm can i wire my alarm to unlock the doors with the alram key fob? is this an easy job?? any information would be helpful thanks in advance

Easy job …no

Power door locks are going to need a actuators to pop them and relays. If your remote unlock lock would depend on what kind of alarm system you have installed.

Powerwindows you will need door panels, door swtiches, window motors and wiring harness.

This to me would seem like alot of work to do but yes its possible. Your looking at about 2-3 hours each door If you knew what you are doing. I would guess a cheaper/easier route is find a mint set of used power doors with everthing already installed.

thats wat i was aiming for to just swap the entire door (both) instead of just pulling evereything apart.

you would still need to install the wiring for the window motors themselves…on the harness side (not IN the door itself). did i explain that correctly???

def not an easy job, i just switched a non-power window door, to power. i switched over all the guts from one door to the other, however, the main chassis harness WAS from a car with power windows to begin with - so no issues there. i imagine you’d have to add quite a few wires to get this all to work, and aquire the switches themselves.

thanks. i think this changed my mind lol not sure yet

I was doing a search and came across this thread.

I started a project a while ago. Bought a bunch of parts from glynn (Blkack1). Stuff intervened and had to put the project on hold.
He had a 92 GS. I have a 93 RS. I bought his complete interior harness, and all the necessary power windows, door locks, power mirror stuff. He’s a great seller and went to an lot of extra work for me - provided picts for instance.

Im nearly done. I started to put the door regulators in, and oops :umno:, the hole pattern is a bit different. Yikes.

I just assumed the doors would have the same bolt pattern. I can put a regulator in, but only two bolts line up. The motor seems to line up with the indentation (protruding inside the cabin) and just ahead of where the crank spindle pops up for rollup windows.

Do I need a different door or am I doing missing something obvious?

no you dont need a different door just turn the reg. tell the holes line up that all i thought that to the first time i did one just turn it

/\

wow…on a roll i see…

Thanks. I see it now, and got them installed.

The problem was that i sprayed accoustic sound deadening material on the doors, and covered them partially with dynamat. I took care to preserve the hole(s) that previous to the tear apart were used…of course, having roll-ups and not power, I didn’t take that into consideration.

Im going to do another search and possibly make a thread concerning the power mirrors. I think I have done a better job thinking about this…ha! Let’s see.

The service manual does a good job (not the haynes) listing the various harness and connectors. When its an LS, GS deal, they indicate it. The power mirror switch relay rocker is in the dash, leftmost position. It has a p-10 connector that is part of the dash harness. Damn, the SM doesn’t indicate this is unique to the LS, GS, but it must be - I have my dash out,, so its easy to indentify whether this connector is present. Its not! I can only assume it will be found only on LS, GS wiring. I suppose I could look for that and nab it, but then I wonder if there will be an issue with the heating controls - I have lever. Unless I start on down THAT path…LOL.

The other option is to find a connector that will fit the back of the mirror switch and wire this myself. That is probably the smartest route…

Anyone with thoughts, laughs, omg’s girl, let them rip!
