A friend of mine gave me some cheap rims with brand new tires.come to find out they rub in the front.i would put my old steelies back on but there showing steel and aren’t very safe anymore(i have to kids in the car all the time so safety is a must).so i was thinking about rolling the fenders.i heard theres a tool made to do such a thing or you can use a bat and heat the fender with a heat gun to prevent the paint from cracking.what i wanna know is if anyone has done this to their integra and whats the best way to do it.if you have pics of a rolled front fender that would be great.
bump…no one?
ok so there is a lip on the inside of the fender just take a hammer and hit that up it should give u some clearence. show me a pic of the clearence between fender and tire and a pic of it rubbing and we can help you out more.
that’s gonna need some serious rolling. i don’t think there’s a way of fixing that without damaging the paint. What i used to do on stronger stock steel (hotrods) was to ghetto fix that by wedging two sledgehammer handles into the wheelwell and standing on them. i tried doing this on a vw…about the same thickness of a teg fender… and put a nasty crease on it. Basically, be careful when bending it. if you do use a bat, apply pressure lightly. possibly find another fender in the junkyard, put it on, and try to bend that to see how much it can take without creasing…
I am sure that someone here has done this…if you don’t get any responses, try to go to a hotrod board or yahoo chat under classic cars. there are some guys there who can build a entire car body from scratch… i am sure that they will be more than capable to answer your qestion
Good luck!
faster solution, get smaller series tires. go with 205/50/15
you will need:
heat gun
rubber mallot
sponge
first thing is you have to remove the fender lining/plastic, you can do this without removing it tho…then heat the paint/metal lip, then hit the lip gently while pressing the edge of the fender with the sponge…this will take you some time, but be patient with it, because if your not then you might mess up your fenders…the front fenders are easier to do than the rears…so take your time…
The offset looks off to me.
those wheels look pretty nice, what kind are they?
Be careful with heat guns and cooling steel quickly with water. The second steel gets hot it begins to move. When you hit it while its hot a process of shrinking beggins and when cooled quickly causes the molecules of the steel to tighten and shrink the steel making “low spots” (look like dents). You can also bubble the paint with the gun if you are not careful. You will not be able to properly roll the fenders without paint damage. And done properly there is no heat guns or bats or sledge hammers involved, only a cut-off wheel, a good body hammer and a dolly.
Get a camber kit and put the front camber to -1 degree. It probably will clear.
And wear out the inside of your tires…
You won’t see any wear with -1 degree. The factory spec is from +1 to -1. As long as you keep your toe aligned, -1.5 degrees in the front won’t wear out the inside very fast either.
On a side note I run -3.2 on the front of mine and I got about 15,000 miles out of my Fuzion ZRi’s.
I’m not going to pretend like I know alot about camber angles and stuff but I do know that on my last car the negative camber was barely noticeable on the front, and the inside of the tires burned off pretty fast. On a $200.00 tire that sucks.
First off, how the hell did you spend 200 dollars on an integra tire? They don’t even make 200 dollar tires that fit under our fenders. EDIT: ah, canada.
Second, TOE ANGLE wears out tires much much faster than camber. You could have +1 degree on both sides for toe angle, and 0 degrees of camber and wear them out fast. So my car with 3 degrees of camber and 0 toe does okay with tires. If you don’t know what toe is, search. If you have bad toe, you’re basically dragging the tire sideways across the pavement when you’re driving down the road. Much worse than one side having a little more weight on it.
I said I don’t know about specific angles because I don’t do anything to do with alignment. I’m not stupid. I know what toe is. As far as $200 on an integra tire…news flash for ya. THEY MAKE OTHER RIMS FOR CARS!!! I know. It’s crazy. Some nuts guy went out and made other rims that you can go buy, that actually fit on your car and are not the stock ones. Wow…what will they come up with next.:jerkoff:
I guess thats the response I should expect when I admit to not knowing about something…next time I’ll just make shit up and talk out my ass for ya.
You moron, if you would have read the post you would have seen that I realized you’re in Canada. Still, 200 is way too much for a tire on an Integra. Unless they’re R compound race tires, you got worked.:owned:
Sorry I don’t shop at dicount tire emporium and buy ghetto tires for my 17’s. I’ll try to live down to your standards…
I’m done.
What kind of tires did you buy?
These are the most expensive tires you could have bought for your car through Tire Rack
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KD&partnum=04YR7GFTAKDL&partnum=04YR7GFTAKDR&vehicleSearch=false&index=0&fromCompare1=yes&place=0&leftTire=04YR7GFTAKDL&rightTire=04YR7GFTAKDR
Those are expensive, but if you paid that much for those tires you still got worked over. There are many equal tires for less money.
These are what I run on the street:

These are what I run on track:

Also have a set of these unmounted in my garage:

But I really have low standards…
Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S
205/40/17
Your site offers them at $113.00 per tire and I have seen them listed in Canadian prices well over $400.00 (I think it was carmodifier.com)
Happy?
Do we need to keep pissing on each other?
