^^ ^ boss rims !! 16"?
Thanks man! These are my all-time favorite rims. They are 15x7 +40 offset 4x100 and 4x114
Finally an update. I haven’t had any chance to work on the car recently but I did get it towed to my new house.
Today though… I took a 7 hour drive to pick these up. I’ve wanted a set of Gales forever…
Wow Im prerty sure it cost you some money on these I would like to own one but I really dont have the means haha I saw one before when I bought my used Jdp lip for my car. He sold it like in a snap I guess thats how popular they are.
Way too much money but I love them so its worth it… Lol
Snapped a pic of my db1 outside my shop. I like the light. Yes its filthy…
Nice DB1! Once my brother gets his set of kosei K1’s I’m going to buy his blades off of him, love the way they look on our DB1’s. And I can’t wait to see those Gales mounted!
Want Gales
I don’t mean to thread jack or anything. But I am addicted to looking the old-school JDM Gale wheels page on facebook page lol.
Thanks, its not that nice though. There’s one or two angles that it looks decent from though… Haha. I’m going to be doing a full black interior conversion on it soon along with installing all the parts I have stockpiled for it. OEM visors, thin moldings, optional trunk lip, mudflaps, and an OEM cluster to replace the indiglo gauges it came with when I bought it. The Gales will never see this car. They are for my DA. My DA gets all the good stuff…
Didnt you just get new wheels…? Lol
Well… yeah… The crazy-rare Ravs Engineering ones, even!
I am decent when it comes to wiring but you sure are a brave man! lol It will be worth it though. Awesome build thread and even better progress! Cant wait to see whats coming next.
Hey they look good, I don’t get too caught up in the name. If they made knockoff gales I probably would’ve already had a set. I used to make a lot less money than I do now so I’ve rocked nothing but rotas and OEM wheels on my DA so far. I can’t wait to see it with fresh paint and these wheels though!
Thanks man! Appreciate the positive feedback! There was a point where I was like “woah maybe I shouldn’t have done this” but I just had to step back for a couple days and figure out how I was going to attack the wiring. Now that I’ve got a plan in mind I’m not too intimidated. I’m kind of stuck waiting for my parts though. My pins should have been in last week and I need a couple spare plugs so I can get to work on the subharness. Hopefully I’ll get the parts this week and make a little progress this Friday. Once the wiring is done I’m going to start on the bay!
Well I finally walked into your build thread. Lol. Nice score on the welder and I think that’s crazy that I have the exact same engine lift as your friend. I have never seen another like it and thought mine was some rednecks backyard contraption. that is crazy!
I’m building my own harness as well and I’m going the mil spec route mounting the firewall plug in the middle near the bottoming I can’t find an exact good spot to mount it as our firewalls are very “hilly” (sorry, not an English major) I can’t find a good flat spot to mount the connector.
On another note, ever thought of incorporating a civic wiper motor and setup? Those are mounted in the cowl. This thought has crossed my mind a few times but I’m no where near that stage of my build yet.
Your rear db1 seat was just moved to my house from the storage unit and put in plastic bags to prevent further dirt from settling. I’m still on the hunt for that rear ls seat. Lol
What’s up man? The lift works great and I really like how it can be broken down. I’ll definitely be borrowing it again to drop the engine back in.
I know what you mean about the firewall. I think I’m going to cut a large hole and weld in a plate with a smaller hole to create my own flat spot to run it through. I’m not planning on the milspec plug anymore. The price of the tools I’d need to pin it discouraged me along with the fact that it will be hidden anyway so the OEM plugs should be fine for me. You already painted your bay though huh?
I thought about something along those lines but never remember to look at how they are set up when I’m at a junkyard… Lol
I actually think I found a set locally (4 hours away). I can’t tell if they’re gs from the pics but if not they’re definitely LS so I’ll let you know once I see them.
Got my pins and seals today!
I’m gonna have to read through the last couple pages again and see where you ordered those from. Awesome find!
I had found a place last year that had Honda-style pins for like 10c each, but I’ll be damned if my harddrive didn’t take a shit and I lost my bookmark for the site. Not that I plan on a tuck or anything… I just like having those hard-to-find pieces around in case.
Good stuff man!
I actually never posted it up on my thread. I found this guy Carlos on hondatech that sells miscellaneous pins, seals, plugs, and almost any tucking/wiring stuff you can think of. That’s his card I posted in the picture. Anyone who wants his contact info just let me know and I’ll get you it.
10c a piece is a good price. He charged me 25c a piece but he threw in some stuff for free. It saved me the hassle of digging up the info for each pin and seal I needed and I didn’t have to buy in bulk. I got a bunch of extras just in case and to have on hand for the future though.
That is true man… 10c is great until you have to buy in the thousands lol.
edit NVM, I was able to read it off that car. Thanks man!
is there a special tool to crimp wires to new connectors like what you have there?
No any good set of crimpers should work for the OEM pins. For the milspec plugs (amphenol, deutsch, etc) they require a special tool for crimping and stabilizing the pin. From what I’ve read they usually run $200-300 or even more depending on which type of plug you’re using. I wouldn’t mind paying that if I planned to use it frequently but its a little steep for a tool I’d only be using a couple of times. There’s a steep learning curve involved with ordering the correct plug, pins, and tools required too. After paying for the tools needed though there’s almost no savings to be had from ordering it from rywire or wireworks anyway so being that I wanted to diy, I chose to use the OEM connectors.
I’m currently working on the engine harness so that I know exactly what length my subharness needs to be.
Good, logical thinking there.
I was thinking about making myself a tucked Mil-Spec harness until digging into it and seeing, as you said, the cost of said amphenol connectors and the tool needed. Eff that.
OEM+ works just fine for my ride!
