Rough ride-ideas?

1st off-I don’t know ANYTHING about auto repair, or anything of the sort-so please forgice me if I make you laugh =)

I’m havving a pretty rough ride in my 92 Sedan teg. It doesn’t “feel” all too rough-but even the slightest change in road texture causes my cd player to skip. I know it’s not the unit-I’ve tried 2 others and get the same rsult. What should I look at to improve the stability of my drive?

Thanks!

is your car stock? if not, what parts (suspension) have you installed?

Yes it is all stock-no mods other than my aftermarket cd player.

any integra is going to ride a bit rough its a sports car not a caddy, but to help stop some of the skipping i stuffed clothes all around the deck. stuff it real good and tight. it should help.

Check your shocks. When i had my stock shocks the ride was rough. I replaced it with tokico (blues) and H&R sports and it rode better than stock. It could also be other things, just giving you ideas.

i would just live with it.

Living with it isn’t good enough for me-I could if it weren’t as bad-but i mean the SLIGHTEST bump and the track skips-it makes listening to a CD a chore…

Where do you stuff the shirts? Around the unit itself, or in the mounting area for the deck? Are there any fire precautions i should consider? A few more details would be appreciated.

face it the car is about 10 years old now. its not gonna ride like a mercedes.

You all make it sound like I hate my car. I don’t. I know it’s not a Benz, or LExus, it’s a teg and it rides low and rough-FACT. However, I have had a cd player in my teg before and never had these problems. They started literally out of nowehere, and i was wondering what I might look at to help the problem.

You’re shocks are probably bad. have them checked/replaced. As jonsteR said, when I upgraded my suspension(Eibach Sportline + KYB GR2), even if I was lowered, it rode a LOT better than stock! My CD player skips a lot less since.

That’s probably your problem.

It sounds like it’s not your shocks/springs, but your cd-player itself. Are you sure the cd-player is not damaged? As for checking if it is your shocks/springs, are you bouncing all over the place? Are you bottoming-out? Do you get excessive brake-dive? Is your car stiff during cornering?

If your cd-player skips by changing road surfaces alone, it doesn’t mean your shocks/springs are suspect. The shocks/springs are not sensitive enough to compensate for a rough-textured road. Do you feel a lot of vibration when running over this “rough-road” texture? If so, you might want to check your suspension bushings, tire alignment, and tire wear as a start.

yo

You should bring it somewhere and get the suspension realigned, This help my bro’s ride Alot:p

Where do you stuff the shirts?

stuff them right under the cd player and all around it. the reason why your CD player skippes is because your dash board jumps. my friend did it to his crx and it helped big time. just make sure u dont stuff clothes by the cigarette lighter.

get a cd player with anti-skip on it. I have all stock and i take some pretty hard bumps and only if i really nail one will my cd player ever skip. I had the same problem with a regular sony cd player until i changed it.

It’s not the unit guys-I think it’s my shocks. I bought the car used with 100k on it, and I’m gonna guess the shocks have been replaced MAYBE once-I wanna get some good shocks-can anyone suggest what kind and where to buy?

Thanks for all the help!
