When I start the 92 GSR in the mornings, I get a knocking type of sound out of the motor. It doesn’t sound like detonation though, much lower in tone.
Also, the motor when I first turn it over revs to 1500 then immediately drops to 1000, then struggles to come back up to 1500. Finaly after a minute or two it arrives at 1500, the knocking noise goes away and the rest of the day it sounds and runs good.
The thing that is confusing me is that it only happens at the beginning of every day. If I leave the car sitting for 4 or 5 hours after warming it up and then start it and let it warm up again, no noise and it revs to 1500 and stays there until it starts warming up.
Thinking maybe cap & rotor or timing, gonna take care of both this weekend. Anything else I should look at while I’m out there? Could it be needing a valve adjustment even without the ticking?

Don’t know if this is related, but sometimes it seems like I can hear my valves opening and closing very well from inside the car.
