I am looking and looking and all I see is ef manual racks into our da with special or custom bushings/shims being used. Now I heard that a rs model came with a manual rack. Now if this is true will it bolt up to my 90 ls or not? Any opinions or stories or actual trial and error is welcome.
RS came with the same steering setup as the other trim levels.
Go with the EF rack, I ran that set up in my car for over a year with no issues. You need a spacer to tilt the rack on the driver side, longer bolts, and a custom bushing on the passenger side because the EF rack is smaller in diameter. As Colin said, no integra models had manual steering. Also depending on your reasons, you may just want to stay with the power rack.
(not trying to thread hijack) I swapped an EF rack successfully into my GS. I did have to “make” a bushing for the passenger side, but didn’t find that I needed any longer bolts or a spacer to tilt. What would happen if it wasn’t tilted? Mine seems to be OK.
Usually the steering u-joint hits the firewall inside the car if you don’t shim the rack. If it doesn’t hit I’m sure it’s fine.
