I heard a rumor this past weekend at my local Solo II event about a new ST class restriction for next year. I was told that the MINIMUM treadwear rating on the tires in any ST class will be 400 (yes, 400). Has anyone else heard anything about this? If this is the case, I’m screwed. I don’t even know where I can find a 400 tread rate performance tire in a 15 inch size. I know there are a few Solo2 junkies (like myself) out there, and I would appreciate any info on this. Thanks.
WOW? That is going to bite! If it does go into effect. The last I read on the SCCAForums.com was the rating may go to 180 to stop ringers, AKA Hoosier. The last I heard on them was they were looking to make a AS(?)05 with a rating of 140 just for the class. But in reality would be a wet tire for autocross with less tread.
Only time will tell. If it does go to 400 though…HELLO KUMHO!!!
The 712 is rated at 280 treadware. What the hell else is out there? Does BFG have anything harder than steel that would fit?

) I learned that ACTUAL rules change proposed for 2006 is from treadware of 140 to 180 for minimum treadware (to prevent Toyo from making a ‘cheater tire’ out of their 100 tread rated road race tire). Sorry for the false alarm! Everyone load up on the 615’s.
