Running lights won't always come on...

So up here in Canada, my '90 GS hatch has running lights that act as daytime running lights :stuck_out_tongue:

Basically, all the running lights light up when the car is running with the light switch at the OFF position and the only lights not on are the headlights and fog lights.

Recently however, there have been times where the running lights don’t come on and it was only by accident when I was brushing snow off the car that by beating the hell out of the passenger door on the body side moulding close to the speaker they will magically turn on. Sometimes I have to spend five minutes beating the hell out of the moulding and then I just give up and hope to be seen by other motorists and not get caught by the police, other times I can tap it lightly and they come on, and then the odd time they will come on when they’re supposed to. The last straw came last night when I got pulled over by the cops and thankfully they let me off with a warning and I assured them I’d get it fixed up.

Now… I don’t know what the hell is in that door that would be holding the DRLs by the balls… I looked at the electrical diagram and I couldn’t see anything that would be considered notorious for this.

Does anyone have ANY ideas at all why this is happening??? Or how to go about fixing this??? Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!
