Ok guys I need help. A friend gave a tranny for my 5sp swap. It has a a small hole on the bottom and I was gonna fix it, weld it and maybe rebuild it with synchros and stuff. But I wanna know what kind of tranny is and if is wort it. All it says is S1-100…
Is it ys1 s1 and what does it come from.
Thanks in advance for all the info…

run of the mill LS integra transmission. depending on the cost of fixing it, id rather tear it down and have the spare internal parts and get another one without a hole in it.
cause if its got a hole in it, there is no telling how it was treated before the hole was made…
Nothin to brutal but the hole was made cuz he ranover somethin. And is small. But also don’t wanna buy one and the gears or synchros go bad.
Thanks keep them comin
So it looks like it could be b16 or 92_93integra
The best (and only way) to tell for sure what it is, is to crack the case apart. It really is easy. All you need is a 12MM socket and 3/8" socket wrench, and a pair of snap ring pliers.
Pull all of the 12MM bolts from around the case, pull out the end-plug, using the end of the 3/8" socket wrench… and use the snap-ring pliers on the c-clip that is under the big end-cap that you just removed.
Count all the gear teeth… Divide the counter shaft gear teeth by the number of main-shaft gear teeth (Or the other way around, I cant remember for sure), that will give you the gear ratios for each respective gear. And count the total number of gear-teeth on the differential/final drive gear.
66 Teeth on the final drive = b16 final drive… 64 teeth = LS final drive.
You need some Hondabond or Grey Permatex sealant to seal the tranny back up.
Use these links as resources… but as one of the sites says, the Y1/YS1/S1/J1 names only say what car the trans came from, the name doesnt tell you what gears are inside. The only way to be sure is to count them out.
