save a da6 project!

so i picked up another 1990 honda integra xsi. rough shape, wanting TLC…

anyways, here is a little history of the car…

a local dealer brought over from japan a couple years ago,

it ended up being painted blue, crashed a few times, and then painted black, then now silver.
i got my hands on it and now it’s a rehab project. only has 126xxx kms on it… this teg has been through too much and i want to give it some more life!! I won’t be holding onto this teg, so it will be for sale in the future after i get it going. i hope it goes to a good owner.

pretty much everything/anything you can think of is broken in this thing. things from,

  • climate control
  • folding mirrors
  • front rad support bent
  • air vents the dash
  • e-brake
  • hood latch
  • missing spare
  • etc etc etc…

everything on this teg is painted silver except for the glass…:frowning:
(mouldings, weatherstrip, you name it.)

gladly i have everything this integra needs. so the project begins!!!

the front rad support will need some straightening up… i will be replacing the front fenders, bumper, hood, and maybe doors. this car needs TLC!!! a great challenge for me. i cant wait to get this looking O K again. here are some pics of it, make fun, whatever, but it will looks 10x better in the future

stay tuned and i will update pics as i go along!

so far i’ve temporarily replaced the tail lights with 92-93 tails, the original left tail light has overspray and is cracked, the right side will need wet sanding and a good polish to get rid of the overspray.

the door jams on the car have been painted and i was wondering if anyone knew how to strip it down to the original color? there is lots of overspray on this car and would like to know how to get rid of it. the original color is torino red, which is a beautiful color… so sad it has been painted multiple colors… here are some pictures…

getting rid of this ugly cluster bezel!

92 tails installed

Last but not least, lime greeen brakes.

Dont know why they’re green.

Good luck with her i love projects how much u grab it for

thanks, i traded my four door GS for it. This is going to be a time consuming project! Dont have much time to work on it this weekend though. :frowning:

Good looking project!! Maybe I can come see it when I come up to shoot with you. That and your other XSI’s!

I love it! Keep up the good work. (and share the wealth)

this car is so overwhelming. there’s overspray everywhere and its hard to make it look good again. :(…

i straightened the rad support and the headlights seem to fit a lot better than before now. i put most of the dash back together, replaced the psger side vent, glove box, and climate control unit. cluster is all back to original and looks 100% better. Just stuck now because i need the center vents.

different fenders, doors, and hood are next.

Glade to see you are going thru it an re doing it. As far as the sliver paint was it painted by a shop or a spray can? I ask this because I picked up a for door was painted black from a spray can an well 2 or 3 gallons of laquer thinner an hella sponges later it back to stock 90 red an yes is still has it oem clear coat on it you just rub real lightly an when your done for the day you wash it with water

thanks. tried that and not much luck. theres about 3 different layers of paint on there. door jams are painted with some real thick black paint. very hard to get off… i’ll just have to get it resprayed it’s original color. :frowning:

Wow man, this is quite a project to take on. I would buy this off you in a heart beat if I could get it registered in CO. Good luck man, Ill be watching this tread closely:up: :corn:

still in the process of putting her back together… shes aircared and driveable now! still lots of work to be done. here’s pic of how she sits now.

Already look good, lol.

Nice. I wish I had a garage to take on projects like this.

nice work man

Definetly going to be keeping tabs on this thread. Keep up the good work.

Looking good man, any new work done? :corn:

OMG the body of that car was sooooooooo pristine in the first picture.
Whoever raped that poor thing needs shot.
One thing you can tell also from that first pic, the dealer was the first ones who started raping it.
Note the USDM headlights that are poorly installed. A way for the dealer to rake in several hundred more dollars.

yeah, it was in real good shape off the lot. You noticed that large gap underneath the passenger side headlight eh? lol… yeah it wasn’t that great of an install. but they are required to pass a vehicle inspection so the jdms had to come off and sold with the 3 piece headlights…

update…

got rid of that fart can today! put on an aftermarket oem style muffler and tail pipe on it… oh it sounds so much nicer! I can actually hear the engine roar now. next thing to do list is to fix an intermittent misfire on acceleration. i’m thinking cap and rotor, and going to change the plugs since i got them free with the car.

what spoiler is on it in the last picture?

spoiler is off of an acura vigor, same era.

Thats what I thought. Is that the one from your black da6?
