It has been some time since I have been on G2IC and am very happy knowing that I have not forgot my account. Now onto pressing matters.
I got into a major accident roughly 3 and a half hours ago and was rear ended by a Dodge truck, placing my rear bumper into the back hatch, quarter panel
damage on both sides, spoiler went flying into the air somewhere on the freeway and part of the bumper scrubbing deep into the rear passenger tire. I am going to contact
the individual’s insurance company to access the damage in
the morning as I need a rental car by Monday ASAP. Once they come to evaluate the damage, they will claim the DA as “salvaged” and unrepairable.
They will claim my Racing Hart Type Cs to buy out the car and have the car crushed with the wheels. I need to aquire some steelies with tires before they get to it.
Once again,
if the claims adjuster sees those Racing Harts on the car, it will be deemed in their possesion.
I am asking help from anyone in the Atlanta area if you can sell your donut spare wheel, steelies with tires, just something so they do not take the Racing Harts.
I will post photos as soon as I can of the aftermath, but right now, I am not giving up $1,500 rare Work wheels to be sent to the wrecker. I am not going to buy the
car back as I need every bit of the insurance money to get another car quick, and I know that the insurance company is not going to pay me the value of those wheels.
I am willing to spend a couple of bucks on at least 2 steelies as I do have someone
with 2 steelies but that is another issue as far as tires. So if there is anyone in the Atlanta area that can help. I’d appreciate it, and
thanks to all on G2IC. At 41 years of age, 5 DAs, I’m out of the game…
How soon do you need them?
damn wish i could help! i got my gsr wheels but im riding on them!
I hope you get your wheels man.
Often it’s too late already and once the car is in the tow yard they won’t let you remove parts. I would buy the car back and part out what you can then use www.peddle.com to have the shell hauled away.
here in bc they will allow you to tow the vehicle to your home or other suitable place for a period of i think 30 days to remove any parts you want. as long as the parts are replaced by original or correct parts. heck the parts don’t even need to be installed. just somewhere in/on the vehicle. so long as the tow truck can move it. they also allow the owner first shot at buying back the vehicle. so if there are a lot of parts that you don’t have replacement for, you could take their offer, then buy back the vehicle for parts. keep in mind a scrap yard will probably only pay them a few hundred for the car max. so you’d just have to beat that.
like i said though, bc. not georgia. we don’t even have private insurance here. talk to an insurance agent and find out or do your own research on the rules
As much as I love em’ this is why I will not spend more than a thousand bux on rims.
What insurance company do you have?
I have State Farm. I was full coverage for well over 13 years and I just dropped down to liability/comp/collision…but we need not worry anymore. I appreciate
the support from those who contacted me but the problem has been resolved. I was able to hire someone with a truck to take me out to the salvage yard and
purchased 2 steelies off an '88 accord and take off my wheels. I will let you all know how the progress and hopefully the compensation. I stripped a good
portion of aftermarket parts, but am going to be at a loss with my coilovers/struts/extended top hats. I am still trying to figure out how I can share the pics
with you guys on the rear end damage to the DA. All in all, this thread is almost coming to a close. Thanks to all again.
If you really want to pull the suspension it’s really not that hard. If you buy the car back you can bring it home, strip those parts and then keep the car up on jack stands in your driveway and have a tow truck come haul it away. I use www.peddle.com and have used them for 3-4 different shells I needed to get rid of, none of which had wheels or suspension. You can also use cheap furniture dollies from Harbor Freight to lower the car onto so you can roll it around (this may not work that well if the engine/trans is still in it, but for a stripped shell it works great).
Best of luck with the car and insurance co (I just had an accident this weekend and am fearing what the ins co is going to do), and glad you were able to get your wheels back
You need suspension to put in place of yours?
