Hey, on my Integra, there is alot of scratches on the outsides of the side windows, I think there may be something inside the door panels (rocks, sand etc.) that are causing these…have any of you had problems like this? What did you do to stop it from scratching even more? And how can I get rid of the scratches? Thanks alot
Me Too!
The drivers window is scratched to shit. I’m gonna just replace the glass eventualy. Sucks.
same here
The only thing that contacts the window is the rubber at the top of the door. Roll the window all the way down, take a cloth, wrap it around your finger and dab the finger with water/alcohol. Then run your finger along the inside of this seal.
I did this to remove smudges that always appeared when I rolled my window down. Hope it helps.
Thanks, I’ll try that tomorrow, and maybe try and put this 5% tint on my windows…is that a relatively easy job for a 16 year old to do? I’ve never tried before, and only spent like 30 dollars on the tint so I figure I have nothing to lose, any pro tips on how to make it turn out good though? Thanks for the help
:search: You can find all that info.
I’m going to have to correct you on this one. There are guides on the door frame that rest against the door glass. They have 1/4 brushes on them. Sand and dirt gets stuck in the brushes. Every time you raise or lower your glass the sand grinds into the glass causing the scraches. Have you ever noticed that the scratches go in a straight verticle line?
Dammit haha, umm could anyone give me a brief discription of how to get to the window when the door panel is off? Theres a lot of nuts and bolts and I don’t wanna have the glass fall out and smash on me. Thanks
If you are removing the window, Remove teh stoppers on the top of the door frame 90 Degree fittings with black rubber stoppers. Then loosen the 2 10MM bolts on the bottom of the glass (they are on the metal slide on the window mechanism). don’t remove the nuts or the glass can fall. grab the top of the glass and slide it free from the metal rail. Pull the glass out.
Alright, thanks alot. I think I’m going to try that when I get home from school tomorrow, hopefully everything will go well
Scratches are definetly in a straight line.
I guess ill take my door panels off and try to clean those brushes.
i dont have smudges i have something that looks like someone carved into the window, its never been a problem but now i want tints and its going to be white…can someone tell me a product or something to at leest get the white out so i can tint my windows
Pro tip: Use a solution of about 1 qt water, 1-2 tsp dish liquid, cap full of rubbing alchohol. Spray solution and use a flat razor blade to get all the junk off. Then spray and squeegee. You get a real smooth, sparkly window for tinting.
If this doesn’t take off the white, you may as well be looking for a new window 'cuz the other options aren’t nearly as cheap.
here’s the acura TSB…
