Whenever I take off from a stand still, I would hear a “screeching” noise, kinda like I’m peeling out but it’s not cuz I’m letting off the gas really slow… the noise goes through 1-3 gear. What the hell is this screeching noise? It seems like it’s more prominent when I let the clutch go out slower than normal.
Again, I’m not spinning out my tires… the noise can be heard on normal slow take off. Please help cuz it’s driving me crazy! :gunleft:
I have the same problem. Mine sounds like you’re driving fast in one of those parking garages and screeching all over the place, but its coming from my transmission. It only makes noise when I let the clutch slip. Its like a rubber squeaking/squealing kinda sound right?
I am pretty sure its the clutch disk or flywheel that has become glazed or contaminated with oil somehow.
The sound sounds exactly like you’re spinning out the tires in a race but for only half a second. It makes it from 1st through 3rd gear. I can replicate the sound by putting more gas and letting off the clutch slowly. Not major gas but just a little… it’s driving me nuts!
So if it’s clutch chatter or whatever you call it, is it ok to drive still? Clutch seems to work fine when changing gears, it only makes that noise right after take off.
my problem only occurs when i let the clutch slip when i start off. Only at the friction point does the clutch make noise.
at speed i can hear it chirp a little when shifting if i let it slip again. for my problem at least i really think its a glazed/contaminated flywheel or clutch pad.
mine does the same thing…and so does my friends in his g3 teg. my clutch grabs like hell though so i know its not oil or anything on the disk or flywheel. i always thought it was normal.
if you heard it for yourself you would agree that it sounds like tire noise.
I know it is not the throw out bearing because only at the friction point does it make noise…and you can tell by listening to the noise when the clutch will stop slipping. When i was teaching my friend to drive stick i told him to listen for the noise, then you know you’re at the friction point.
When it catches fully the noise stops. Its the clutch pad and flywheel being glazed or something i am sure of it. any other pedal position prior to the friction point does not produce any noise.
from about 1-4th gear i have a small scratching/whistling noise from my transmission area. when i approach WOT it seems to go away but it is very possible that i am just not hearing it because the motor is making to much noise @ those RPMs. it is very light & with 1 window down i cannot hear it. when i push the clutch in while the noise is going on it stops.
if so many ppl have this noise, i believe its just the friction sound and perfectly normal. i know a couple integra’s that make this noise and they all work perfectly fine. and if its not normal, well it surely isn’t giving any sign of damage yet.
