Screeching

Hey guys easy question before I go buy parts

When I turn left, a grinding/screeching sound comes from the back passenger tire. - Least thats where it seems to come from. Kind of like taking a grinding wheel to metal. As soon as I complete the turn it goes away.

What could it be? Last time I checked the wheel wasnt stiff, and rotated freely offering no noise. If I break, no sound comes from it either. ONLY WHEN I TURN LEFT DO I HEAR THE NOISE!

Also at speeds of 120km + I get a whistling sound coming from the back of the car. Sound like the right rear wheel aswell.

Any suggestions?

PS - What causes rotors to warp? I MUST have a warped rotor up front, everytime I brake I get a tsk, tsk, tsk -sound.

When I bought the car I was used to driving auto and left the handbrake up a few times for a few seconds while attempting to go - what type of damage could that incur to the braking system.

more likely your disk has uneven patches of pad material rather than being warped. Turn them unless they’re at their service limit. also re-install them correctly with even torque. a tsk tsk tsk sound also doesnt diagnose a warped rotor. You should feel pulsing of the brake pedal, and shaking of the steering wheel when slowing down from high speeds. Could the disc be cracked? take a wheel off and check it out.

I will definitley check the pads, but, what about the screeching when I turn? Is this even brake related?

So on my way out I realized if I brake, the sound goes away when turning when I get home Ima pop off the wheels and check everything, but its strange, by looking the rear pads look fine but the rotors themselves are rusty - while the front are not. I think the calipers arent even working

Anyone get this problem, give me an idea before I get home and tackle it.

i honestly dont know the answer to that. Perhaps something to do with the axles, cv joints or bearings. Anyone want to chime in?

edit: reread and its the rear wheel, so that rules out axles and cv joints

as for the rear rotors, can you park on an incline with just the parking brake engaged? can you slow down by pulling up on the parking brake? that brake only uses the rears to stop. take your rear pads out and look at them. Look also on the backside of the rear discs because that is where the wear indicator would do its thing.

Hey, yeah, I use the parking brake to stop and park on hills, it works too. I think Im gonig to pick up brake pads and check it out…

Huge crappy shit - My calipers dont come off - the nuts on the back are seized to SHIT - hell theres barely anything for a wrech to hold onto. Do I have to buy new calipers, or can I rip off the bolts and get new ones?
