for a reason i cant remember. the connector under the driver seat is cut off and the wires are just there. the bell wont shut the hell up. i disabled the auto shoulder belts due to too many “hangins” meaning cutting the switch off sitting in the car a moment, usually dredding going into work! and then getting out too fast and the shoulder belt making me look like an ass by disengaging around my neck. the question would be " is there anything i can do to shut the bell up? like maybe bridging or grounding one of those wires? i tried before but no luck. how about just disconnecting the bell? where the hell is it? what dies it look like? i searched this but had no luck.
pull back the carpet on your passenger side under the dash(may have to take off the kick panel also i cant remember), and the seatbelt controller is a little box that will be on the right side of the ecu.
yeah, i found that awhile ago, thats how i disabled the auto seatbelt. but that damn bell wont shut up. the funny thing is its intermittent. it sounds like its coming from under the drivers side dash. but i cant seem to locate it. any idea what it looks like? i would take great pleasure carefully removing said “bell” and gently placing it on the work bench and beating the ever livin hell out of it with a 3lb sledge. thanks in advance for any help
If you’re hearing something under the driver side, that won’t be your seatbelt warning. The seatbelt warning chime is inside the seatbelt control unit (removed mine, as well). You may be hearing the headlight on chime, which I THINK is located inside the ICU (not certain on that, though).
Sounds about right, because my icu is on its way out, and everyonce in a while the headlight chime with start up. I am going to get to it soon but it really sucks tearing out the fuse block and all to get to it. Plus there is no decent places to buy caps around here so I have to order them ahead of time.
i have almost the same problem but i want to get rid of the light on the dash because i dont put on my lap belt so anyway to get rid of it i tried to diconest the wire that goes to the recever but it just started beeping
I believe the light on the dash is tied into the seatbelt control unit, as well. If you want to get rid of the light, pulling the bulb from the back of the cluster is probably the easiest way.
i just did a indiglo gauge swao and removed the light bulb from the seatbelt light. thats solved. thanks for the replies
did u get it fixed?? cuz im wonderin where that damn bell is too cuz b 4 i figured out that the clip was broken under my passenger side i had that bell go off and everyonce in awhile the clip falls off and it beeebs again then i gotta fixx it again
never found the bell. its close to the fuse box though. i think mine finally gave up the ghost cause it stopped. i’m sure it will come back to haunt my ass when i least need it to.
The light bell
If you want to remove / disconnect the bell that rings when you open your door with your engine off and your headlights still on. The bell is located on the bottom right of the back side of the car stereo center console thing. It’s a little metal box that makes movement when the bell rings.
