O.K.! Would someone please shed a little light on this?Last week I called the dealer and asked if the parts and labor were free of charge for any and all work done to the seatbelts. They said that in fact they were.I made an appt. to have them take a look at the problem.I called today to verify the appt. and to ask again to make sure that it was free of charge. The a…hole service guy told me that electrical parts were not included. He actually got an attitude with me about it!!!So instead of calling that di…head back I thought I would try old faithful!(that would be you guys). Is there any other way to find out without calling the dealer?Does the dealer lose money in some way if they do these kinds of repairs?Need help, seatbelt is on the skids.Oh,by the way,the part that I need for my car is 399.00 bucks!!!
The warranty covers the entire seat belt system for the useable life of the car. Acura will fix or replace at their discrepancy any part of the seatbelt system that fails to function properly. As stated in the warranty manual the only thing that is not covered is replacement due to appearance IE: stained seatbelts, faded clips ect… I can email you a photo of the page out of the warranty manual.
if its an electrical component that controls the seatbelt then its covered. the whole system is run by electronics (obviously since they move up and down). If there is an electrical problem that isn’t seatbelt related but causing seatbelt problems in a sort of backwards way, then that may not be covered. But, if its part of the seatbelt system… its covered.
are there any other acura dealers near you? the one you’re going to sounds like its full of assholes. Personally I hate the dealer. they give you the run around and are never done when they say, or when you say you NEED the car by a certain time.
there was a website someone posted a while back that showed all the recallas of cars from (a long time ago) til present day. they also had facts about seat belt warrantys and such. They also had a phone number you can call if any car company does not stand up to their seatbelt warranty. I think it was the national highway saftey comission (i think). hopefully someone knows what i’m talking about.
“Under federal law, safety problems must be remedied without
cost to consumers. Currently 68 percent of vehicle owners with
safety problems have had the recall work performed.”
This might have something to do with it I found it HERE
Thanks man,I printed out that form from the Highway admin. And I am going to call the dealer back and see what I can come up with.I am a single father raising a six and four year old.The seatbelt on the passenger side is messed up as well as the driver side.My six year old daugter sometimes sit in front in her booster seat, and the buckle is hard to get unclicked sometimes. In the event of an accident,I don’t need any complications getting her out of that seat.Thank all of you for your help.I will let you guys know what I come up with.
