My teg goes to the shop sunday they are goning to do all the body work, pulling all the dings and dents and doing a 3 stage paint. Its going to cost me $1800 so I want to get this right. Is there anything I should do before I leave my car at a shop for 2-3 weeks? Is there any basic prep work I should do first? The car is going to be painted Milano Red again so I don’t need to mess with the engine bay or doors. I plan on having the emblems and antenna shaved also possible the rear windsheild squirter. I was wondering if shaving these things decreases the resell value of the car. Also when you shave the antenna what do you use for an antenna? I have disconnected it before and I get absolutly no reception. Is there some kind of special antenna to use that mounts to the glass or anything like that?
at the cost of $1800…one would think that that includes them prepping the car, masking unwanted painting areas, detailing car, etc… Before you give them the go ahead painting your car, you should be clear on what you want painted and not, like the moldings,mirrors, etcc. are they going to paint the door jams and engine bay too?

Make sure where you want them to paint the car. Like do you want them to paint the grill? headlights? and such. When i had my car painted they didnt do a good job covering up the jdm headlights and they got red paint on it.
I’d take off my important parts that won’t be painted. Like those headlights. Make sure they know to cover your exhaust. Some shops have painted it w/o disrgard on many cars.
Really just do like everyone’s sayin’ & make sure they know what YOU want. Think of every little detail; make a list & give it to them. This way, you can always say- “I gave you a goddamn list! It told you everything! Fix your fuck-up!” or something to that effect.
Do a search on antennas. It’s been covered. Use either an Accord antenna or an under-dash antenna. The Accord antenna sits upside down.
If you shave those items it WILL mess up the resale value, but many people interested in a DA will appreciate that work, so you may be able to parle’ it into extra resale value. On a personal sale of course.

the car is gonna be taken apart by the. the hood bumpers fenders moldings trim lights are all gonna be taken off and the rest will be taped.
