now i just switched from castrol syntec 5w 30 to castro syntec 10w 30 and after 4 weeks i have no oil on my dip stick.I went to 10w 30 because after last oil change the same thing happened.Whee is my oil going? I don’t see any oil on the ground and i don’t see any smoke coming out the exhaust. Is this a bad thing? Should i just top it up with some castrol gtx 10w 30.I know our cars burn oil but i think this is a little extreme.Anyone have a take on what’s going on.Just changed the o2 sensor and plugs.Starting to get really pissed off at the car now, help please
10w30 actually isn’t any heavier than 5w30 – 5w30 can just be used in lower temperatures. If you really want to try using a heavier oil, try 20w50 or something. Oh and Castrol actually has a new oil for high-mileage cars? I don’t know much about it, but it might be worth looking into.
When you change your oil, how much are you adding? It should take 4 qts. I’m just thinking that if you maybe put some oil in and checked the dipstick right away, it might look like it was full when it’s really not.
Try getting someone to follow you to see if you have black exhaust at wot.
Also just noticed you’re using syntec. If you’re burning oil, try a non-synthetic oil.
but even at idle when i rev the engine shouldn’t i see some smoke come out.I was thinking about castrol gtx or the high valvoline high mileage which i heard was good oil
