im getting a new paint job and now doing the body work.
my right side molding is smashed flat so it gave me an idea to just removed both side and cover the holes with body filler. should i do this or just get a new molding and paint it black?
u have to weld a piece of metal to fill the moldings if u do, bondo will break later especially if not done right. I think u should just get jdm thin moldings. U will get that sleek look and not have to do all that extra work.
I debated on the same thing myself, but I like the thin moldings a lot better imo. So that’s what I went with. I have some for sale too btw.lol In FS GA thread
Why are you limited to shaved or black? You could colormatch the moldings. If you shave them were you planning to shave just the holes or the entire bodyline that the molding sits in? HOP Japan moldings are an option but it may be money youre not looking to spend.
If you decide to colormatch, Paintscratch is a great site. You can get the proper adhesion promoter and a couple spraycans of your cars color and probably do it in a day or two. Again, i dont know what youre willing to spend or if youre able to do it yourself but theres a few more options.
