What you need…
Paint stripper
automotive sandpaper
angle grinder
at a minimal bondo ultimate i prefer polyflex filler and fiberglass
garden hose with a good nozzle
putty knife
you will also need a welder with a butt load of thick wire
First off if you dont do this the right way i swear it will crack and you will be very angry at yourself for the waste of time…
Pull out the black strips from the gutters and start glopping on the paint stripper. While your waiting for that to work hop inside and pull out your head liner(welding with it in will burn it real bad). Now grab your hose and putty knife and get that paint sludge out(make sure that you go atleast 3 inches past each side of the gutters… You should have 2 7inch strips on yer ruf “look at maruff”). Once you have that all clean and dry fill in the whole gutter with the welder… :bang: DONOT TRY TO FILL IN WITH BONDO IT WILL CRACK… DO NOT FIBERGLASS IT WILL CRACK… Get as close as possible to filling it completely with the welder. Then snatch up the grinder and go to town. Grind it down past the high point so you can add a layer of body filler and fiberglass. Sand fill, sand fill, sand fill, sand and primer and sand and prime and sans and fill and sand… lol get the point… Its a lot of work but the out come looks cool as long as its done right… Oh yeah also :bang: DO NOT WELD IN METAL STRIPS TO SAVE ON WELDING WIRE TRUST ME IT WILL CRACK TOO. :bang: I cant stress this enough I have done this to 3 civics and my integ trust I know what to do… You will be happy when your roof is shaved like my ummm nevermind (she might get mad) but yeah have fun…
If the welds are strong, a plate should be fine. the full weld, sunroof, and the fact that my car isnt dropped, i’d be in danger of a rollover during high winds lol.
would jb weld work, if i filled it in about 3/4 of the way and then put bondo-glass filler to the top, then sand it down and paint. thought i’d ask before i do something i’ll regret.
