If you don’t mind sharing, I’d be interested to know what sort of settlement ICBC offers you if it’s a write off. I’ve never believed that they’d give me fair, replacement value if “Lil Red” were ever totalled.
In 2013 the Vancouver Police Departmnt, in conjunction with ICBC, were giving free steering wheel “club” locks to owners of Integras. They’re one of the “ten most popular” stolen cars in Metro Vancouver. I’m trying to find out if the program is still active.
i think the free club thing was turfed a few years back, but i believe abbotsford is currently giving them out as they just had a huge rash of thefts recently…
I don’t mind sharing how icbc will probably end up screwing me over… but i guess it’s just time… I’ll let you know once i get word back…My guess is around 1000 to 1200 tops but here’s to hoping its more…

Thanks on the ICBC info, although it’s likely to be depressing. Again, bummer.
I went down to the VPD station on Cambie and picked up what I was told was the last wheel club they had. Thing is a dual hook and pretty heavy duty.
I just checked out a red LS parked on Beach, but it was box stock, not yours. Oh well . . .

Regarding the huge number of thefts, I’m guessing that some car thief just got out of the slammer. In my old neighbourhood there was some arsonist who, for whatever reason, they couldn’t permanently lock up

In my old neighbourhood there was a compulsive arsonist who, for whatever reason, they couldn’t permanently lock up or commit for treatment. He’d be releasd, burn a few folks out of their homes, be caught and reincarserated.

i had my hatch stolen last year… there was a car in the driveway behind it and they actually moved it out of the way to get too it…
i know the pain and its no fun but with some time things will get better

that is why removable steering wheel is always a good thing to have… take it home over night.
Yup… I had a removable wheel too but I left it in… Sigh.
removable wheel isnt enought… lot of these guys have wheels with the femail enf of the quick release so it wont slow them down… this is where an NRG hub lock comes in handy but of course it isnt the end all… there are many other things that you can do that are cheap and very effective… unless they have a tow truck…
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did tow it at this point

Sorry for your lost. Cantt believe they would still steal these kind of cars. I mean its 2015 and anyone can find a da for a fair amount. Crazy!
that is horrible, man. as far as clubs go, theyre as useless as an OEM door lock. i’ve seen wheels cut, and also bent to slide them off. clutch clubs are somewhat better, but my friend had his civic stolen with both a wheel and clutch club on it. if they want it bad enough, they’ll get it. its the reason i waited all these years for my track car, i was just too paranoid without having a garage.
