last night i was driving on the interstate and i went to shift to fifth and my shift extension rod came loose and started dragging on the ground. now this is the third time this has happened to me in about a span of about 2 years. why the hell does it keep coming loose? i have it bolted up and tight each time. what could be the problem. i dont know if this is a factor, but i have the b & m short shifter. has this happened to anyone else?? what am i doing wrong. my 90 teg haynes manual says i need just a 8 x 1.25 mm bolt in there but my 94 helms manual says i need the 8 x 1.25 mm bolt along with the extension end washer A and extension end washer B. which one is right? Granted the helms is for a 94 and up teg only for engine purposes. thanks for the help!
i’d say put another bolt behind the original one or put some nail polish on the bolt then put the nut on b4 it dries , poor mans lock tight.
