hey guys, i have a short shifter and a shift knob. I really like both, in fact, i actually cut down the shifter even more…point being… my shift knob is the kind that doesn’t screw on, it’s the kind that has the 3 screws, and kinda ‘drills’ in i guess…
First off, one of the screws is stripped so im down to 2. The other two are very tight and i also have that once piece under the shift knob ( the black plastic thing that kinda fits in / on the shifter to make it snug supposedly )… Anyway, the shift knob rattles on the shifter, and just wondered if anyone had this problem before or has had any ideas? thanks in advance guys…
ps if we find an answer, i think we should ar chi ve th is.
was it rattling before you cut the shifter down? it could be the rim of the shift knob hitting the thicker bottom portion of the short shifter now that it sits a little lower. perhaps some cloth tape or something could help reduce the vibrations?
i used to have a cheapie short shifter, and it used to rattle like a b*tch at high rpm’s especially, and at idle, etc. but i switched it out with a c’s shifter, and NO rattles whatsoever. just my own experience.
Is this a Momo shifter? I have a Momo F-16 (very comfy) which installs in the same manner, and has the same problem. I haven’t figured out a way to solve it yet, tho.
