my shift knob wont thread if i get one of these i wont have to worry about that right because it just put it on and then bolt it in?
are u sure u’re putting a good shift knob on? like its meant for hondas n stuff? i doubt the thread pitches differ but i ain’t 100% on that. try putting someone else’s shift knob on there cuz its extremely rare to damage the threads on the shift lever. but that pos ebay one will work. won’t hold on all that well but its entirely up to u.
my shift knob is from a 92 ls and it fits on my stock threads but it wont go onto the short shifter i just ordered a bolt on one so ill just have to make sure its all tight all the time
that bolt on one looks like it will slip…
my recommendation is to get the correct short shifter.
i only drive about 10 miles a day im not too worried ive got OCD about loose bolts when i sit in my car i have a screw driver and make sure all the bolts are tight so it’ll be alright
When I had my standard DA I worked at a junk yard, found a mazda shift knob, it didn’t thread very well, so I just bolted it with the allen key bolts that came with it worked fine
i say stop being so cheap. but if u’re gonna buy something from ebay, at least make sure its meant for ur ride. cheap short shifter plus a cheap shift knob… can’t wait til we hear about it breaking or something
hella old … :fingban::umno::werd:
With that type of shift knob, the adapters hardly fit right, it’s either too big or too small. What I did was just wrap one-sided sticky foam tape around the shifter and force the adapter/shift knob onto it, then just tighten and you’re all set. :read:
i found where they bolt into the shifter and i just put a piece of electrical tape there and so far no problems
Electrical tape is not going to hold for long when it gets hot… trust me. It’s going to get all sticky then kinda slip thus making your shift knob spin and maybe even come off.
what happens when you need to take it apart?
You mean when you use the foam tape? You just yank it off. The foam tape is there for the shift knob to sit firmly in place when the screw itself gets loose.
You would use the foam tape in conjunction with the screws to hold the knob firmly in place. But I guess if the electrical tape works for you… just go with that…
