ok i have a prob couldnt find all the answers so i hope soneone else has the same prob ans can hepl… well my cars idle goes up and down at idle anywere between 300-1500 rpms and when i try to drive it it will stumble and the catch and take off but 1st and 2nd it just stumbles and wont run right i have no clue wat to look for i have changed the spark plugs but its still there i dont want to just start changing parts till i get some suggestions from otheres so if any one has a clue please let me know thanks…
Yesterday my car starting acting very similar. At idle it seems like it’s going to stall, but it never does. It really hesitates when trying to accelerate below 3k. If you are going a constant speed, then it’s fine.
Today I took off the distributor cap, and noticed that the connection on it for the ignition coil broke in half. That would make sense, so I put a new Honda cap and rotor on, but it’s still doing the same thing. I’m thinking that it’s the distributor, but I don’t have anyway to test it. My brother’s 90 RS, was acting similar before his distributor went. I’m having a mechanic take a look at on Wednesday. I’ll let you know what he says.
Man i get the same problem too i had someone check it and he said it might be my fuel injectors are dirty so he told me to get my injectors cleaned… I’m not really sure if thats the right answer cuz i havint got it cleaned yet cuz its kinda pricey around 70 bucks or higher
My car had very similar acceleration problems, so I took it to Honda. They fixed the ignition coil, and igniter and it runs perfect now. While your at it if you decide to change those, do plugs, wires, cap and rotor too. HTH
this is so weird I have the same problem the only thing that I have not replaced was the igniter so hopefully that is my problem could it be vacum maybe?
I’m definitely thinking that my problem has something to do with either the dist, ignitor, or coil. The exhaust is smelling really bad now, I think it’s running rich, becuase of a weak spark. I’ve changed the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I think it’s either because of a weak spark, or possibly my cat went bad, but would that just go all or a sudden? And would that have that much of an affect on the way the car runs?
Nothing I can do now though, my car is waiting at the shop for them to look at it. I hate having to wait to find out what wrong with my car. I already want it back.
True Statements:
My car is runnin very rich as well. It bogs until I hit about 6000 rpms and it slightly clears up. I have a Msd Ignition and its brand new so Im pretty sure its not the ignition. Im going to connect my o2 sensor tonight but I really dont think it would make my car run as rich as it is though. Im going to have my Catalytic converter tested but Im sure thats not the prob either…Im stumped…ve changed the injectors, dist etc and still have the same prob…
Hopefully I find a answer though…Ill keep you guys updated…
Peace
i’m screwed
I got a call from the mechanic, they say that my #2 cylinder only has 20 pounds of compression. That’s the reason why the car is running so bad. It doesn’t make any sense, I did a compression test less than a month ago, and got above 180 pounds in every cylinder. Now I have to look for another engine, this really blows.
well i figured my prob out it was the screws on the cap they were all loose so i tightned them and bomm it idles fine and runs fine but i still have a prob all the mounting holes are cracked so i still need a cap but ill get by for a while but anywayz thanks for the help guys…
