Alot of people have said they dropped the exhaust to put on the short shift but is it nessasary on the teg? I didn’t have to in my civic, it was a little tight working on it but very possible. If I have to drop it i’ll have to get a impact to break the bolts loose.
as of right now ive got the front of my car hanging up in the air.ive tried all i can to get the bolts off the cat etc but they wont budge.can someone please tell me how to get those suckers off.what special tool do i need.it seems that after 12 years theyve given up the ghost, whcih is to be expected.cheers.

Prepare yourself to replace those cat-flange bolts. I ended up just grinding the screw head and tapping the rest of the bolt out with a hammer. And be careful not to damage the spring since you’ll most likely go to the dealership to get one of those.
thanks for that Oz.i ended up cutting 1 then getting an exhaust shop to loosen the other.it makes such a difference when you have room to move around the place!anyway,i installed trhe short shifter and although it looked exactly like the stock 1 except lighter, the difference is huge!well worth the effort.
Just to let you know I just replaced alot of my exhaust and I got those bolts and springs as a set from my local advanced auto parts store pretty cheap. I never reuse hardware like that and I always use neversieze on every bolt. I work on my own cars and this always makes work down the road much easier.
well i guess the problem has already been solved… but i had trouble getting mine off to… i ended up just taking a really big wrench and hitting the ratchet attached to the bolt and hitting the ratchet really hard and it worked, after struggling for like 10-15 minutes… hehe, it was simple from there… although, i noticed that the shifter will vibrate on the exhaust some, not the heat shield (i removed that already)… i got my sister to move the shifter around and i saw it was hitting the actual exhaust… any way for me to fix this?
a local muffler shop will often times loosen them up for you then jus snug them up so you can take it off easier (at your house for example) slide the guy with the air ratchet a few bucks and your all good…
