short shifter

Hey guys. Just bought a short shifter today :clap: . BUt I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some hints and maybe some easy steps to follow on how to get this sucker in, and working correctly. If anyone can help please do I would really apreciate it.

There’s a really good procedure in the Teg-Tips section.

The best advice I can give is get your car up as high as you can (jack stands or wheel ramps) but to where you can still inside. If you have access to a cuttin’ torch that will be good also because your shifter will most likely scrape against your heat shield.

Some guys say to just cut out that section (hack saw) of your heat shield, but if you have a torch, you can just remove the part that’s in the way. (plus using a cuttin’ torch is pretty fun!)

Oh, one more thing. If your shifter is from E-bay it will work fine but the bushings are pretty cheap. (the little round things that your mounting bolt goes through). They will wear out in a short time and not fit as snug as they should. Your shifter will start buzzing like MOFO at idle and when you decelerate (sp?). You can get a good set of poly-bushings on the web. I’m sure someone here can point you in the right direction.
